When I went there the tour guide and Aborigines we talked to said 'we just think you (tourists) are stupid for climbing it'.

 

I never even considered climbing it to be honest, I was more interested in riding camels.

 

 

 

Each to their own, but not many of the tourists I saw there were fit, dexterous and highly capable of anything physically 'edgy'.

Having lived and worked in the NT in a previous life, I know full well that NTES & NTPOL are often rescuing stupid people who climb it and get injured and/or stuck. I think it should be closed from a cultural POV alone, but the safety implications are huge just as they are.
