Great for wine and aviation. Just needs an international calibre golf course.

We went to Blenheim yesterday.

Made a beeline for Goodhome only to find that closed despite what their opening hours said on the door.

Had lunch at a decidedly dodgy greasy spoon sort of place, but I was beyond tramping all around town to find something better.

Back to Nelson for dinner last night, and went to the Anchor.

It was OK, but I was not feeling my best after lunch and the long drive.

Back home today.

For the benefit of others...

The Boat Shed Cafe - narrowly takes top spot. How they kept the outside deck area so warm was a miracle.

Chokdee - Second place - just lacked some atmosphere, the food was fabulous, but they really need to downsize the duck rosti entree.

The Anchor - Third place - a good feed, good menu, but nothing spectacular.

For future reference, Marlborough Public House is reasonable and has good opening hours.

Edit: correction MPH used to have good opening hours.  I see they only do lunch on weekends now.

@MikeAqua it was Chantilly Cafe. Next to Noodle Canteen.
