What’s the reason for not using wise to book rooms? I have done this and not had issues…yet.

 

My understanding, as with any debit card, is any holds/authorities are taken on your available balance. So you can be in the situation where all your funds are held and unable to be spent.

 

As per Nate001's response. You don't want you're balance locked up. Sometimes hotels hold the room rate + 200, 500 or even 1000 dollars on top for the duration of your stay to cover any additional expenses. At checkout this will be released, but again some cards can take 48 hours to release the lock on your funds.

In my case I happened to have just enough on the Wise card to cover our room bill, but I did have the option of a split bill across two cards.
