Anyone defending this guy: go sit in business class (when you've paid for economy) next time you fly and let us know how you get on 😉
Jeez people are so outraged by this. I hope none of you are behind the wheel if someone cuts you off. Get some perspective.

I recall years ago Bob Jones stubbornly refused to watch the flight safety spiel and instead continued to do whatever it was he was doing. The flight crew removed him and when interviewed he fully admitted it was his own dumb fault and none of the flight crew had done a single thing wrong. At least he owned his own decision, unlike this guy.
He subsequently bought a Private Jet and swore never to Fly Air NZ Again
"Property tycoon and former politician Sir Bob Jones has reportedly bought his own private jet just months after being escorted off an Air New Zealand flight"

No doubt the facts will change until it gets to court. He was wrong to think he could argue with Jetstar but it started with the airline. Apparently jetstar changed the aircraft flying the route and that changed the seating available. He swapped seats with another passenger to sit by his wife and that was initially ok'd by an attendant. The attendant then came back saying he had to move. Other passengers were surprised how quickly it went from discussion to Police. Southwest Air.ines in US, the largest low cost airline operates without assigned seats so that isn't "the big deal" that some claim.
i've flown on some budget airlines with first come first serve seating.
horrible to board (mad bulls charging through) but unless they weigh every passenger at the check in counter they ain't knowing how much anybody weighs

I imagine number of people are empathising with the crew and other passengers. It's amazing how vicariously annoyed it's possible to get about situations like this.

Speaking of Bob Jones, he famously punched a reporter in the face when disturbed while fishing, and was fined $1000. In court he asked the judge if he paid $2000 could he do it again. lol

Play fair.
The discussion has largely been about how unwise it is not to move when requested to do so by airline staff.
I don’t see anyone “outraged by this” report. But you don’t seem to be able to let it go. You use “outrage” as the sort of emotionally-laden language which then justifies telling people to “Get some perspective.” Bringing up other examples of over-reactions and attempting to apply them here seems like you’re simply swimming against the tide in this topic.

You are late to the party. I let it go a long time ago. Not sure why you want to stoke it up again.

I have noticed that flight crew on each flight I take aren’t checking that the ticket holder for each seat was seated there. But I have always seen them check that all booked seats were filled before takeoff and that the empty seats were in the expected places, telling at least one passenger to move back to their own seat on each flight I’m on.

Been busy, including on airline flights, so haven’t been on for while.
It’s Saturday and I just read this Wednesday topic and commented on your posts ending Thursday so it is good to see that time heals so quickly.
While I could have gone back and upvoted others’ comments it was easier to say what I thought.
We all say what we think here, including me.

D'oh!
Are you just here to state the obvious or are you going to contribute something of value?
