These are locals who aren't planning on travelling. Most don't bother reporting any more
Ah, I thought you were speaking in the context of the international travel experience.

panther2: How many of those re-entering are getting the RAT test survey to talk day 0/1 5/6
We had relatives here recently from OZ and they got constant reminders until the completed their tests.
We've just got back and my wife got a reminder for day 0/1 as the submission was incomplete
And just got my Day 5 reminder - still negative.

Has anyone departed recently through Auckland? Just wondering what the screening times are like, do I need to be at the airport super early?

Not sure how recent you want, but when I went two months ago it was maybe five minutes wait mid-afternoon. It's not like the US where you can spend two hours in a queue that stretches out onto the footpath outside the terminal.

I flew out a couple of weeks ago, and in the evening it took less than 5 minutes to get through, but I was late due to a late connecting flight, so most passengers for my flight had already gone through.
However coming back to Auckland is a terrible experience, at least if you arrive 6am to 7am, it is worse than LAX. The NZ travel declaration often doesn't link to the smart gates properly, so the majority of people were redirected to the poorly staffed assistance desk, and the queues for border security to get bags x rayed were also slow. If you have a connection to a domestic flight it would pay to allow three hours.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm off to Singapore this afternoon at 2pm, back at midday on Sunday. I can relax this morning and arrive at the airport when I normally do for an international flight.
How long do we think masks will be a requirement on International flights?

IIRC in international airspace, the law of the aircraft's registration country applies. AirNZ's aircraft are registered in NZ, so New Zealand's mask rules are in effect on those flights. For my trip (AKL-BNE-OOL-AKL) I noticed that:
- In AKL airport - check-in, security, lounge: mask wearing by minority.
- Onboard aircraft - mask wearing by majority on sitting down and getting the 'wear your mask properly' announcement. But then progressively the masks came off and by the end < 50%. Almost everyone had them off when the food and drink came out.
- At BNE, OOL airports - most people, even airport staff, are mask free.
- In Brisbane and Gold Coast, hardly saw a mask anywhere.
I guess for NZ registered aircraft the requirements for masks on planes would be tied to a change in traffic light to Green which would also remove the requirement for public Transport?

Leaving for New Caledonia on Friday.
As of Aug 1, NewCal has followed Frances move to zero CoVid requirements (Masks, tests, etc).
The AirCalin website says :
"For flights to New Caledonia, masks are mandatory only for flights departing from Singapore."

The traffic light system was supposed to be all about vaccine passes allowing higher attendance at places like hospo and entertainment...
When the Vax passes got dumped in April it turning into a bit of a hollow shell,
I don't think we will ever get to Green, They will simply dump the whole framework, and just look to specific mask requirements when they need them..
It looks like we should drop down to 1-2000 cases a day as we head into spring, if there was ever a time to dump making that would be it, but it will be a test of the Govt to see if they are going to further undercut the previously followed health experts

I believe it's a bit more complex than just the law of the registration of the aircraft. For example, US carriers won't serve 20 year olds alcohol while they're in US airspace, but outside it they will sometimes serve anyone over 18.
As to your observations, there is no requirement to wear masks in Queensland except on public transport (including Ubers and taxis), so that is why you would have seen no masks anywhere. The government "recommends" that you wear them when you can't social distance, but Queenslanders get recalcitrant fairly quickly and pandemic fatigue has well and truly set in. Airports, despite being Federal Leased Land, tend to follow with exceptions the law of the state around them.
Personally I didn't see any issue on my recent trip to AKL on the flight, and compliance in the wild in Auckland was fairly poor (I even forgot about the rules and entered a store without putting the mask on and the staff just didn't care - I suspect because it was a one man store and he didn't feel like potentially starting a confrontation).
Back to my question. Can confirm that I breezed through scanning at lunch time today. Was surprised to find ~75% of the eateries to be closed at midday since the media are reporting that traveler numbers are starting to return to pre-Covid times.
