Hi,

I have a couple of return tickets AKL/Napier that I probably wont be able to use. I was thinking of giving them to my stepson and his girlfriend so they could go to Napier for a weekend (and stay there with his brother, would be good for them to catch up).

Question is - Do Jetstar ID you for these regional flights? I know Air New Zealand don't (they don't even ID for Jet flights, let alone the prop plane flights).

I've never flown Jetstar.

Air NZ used to, I remember they gave us a bollicking when we had a last minute change on a work trip years ago.

Only flew Jetstar once and I dont think they checked our ID ( AKL - CHCH )

Never had my ID checked on an AirNZ or Jetstar domestic, and in the last few years I've taken 70-80 flights within NZ.

Hm, I know its in their Ts & Cs, it is in AirNZs too. I have not been ID'd on an AirNZ flight for ages (took about 20 last year). I find the regional (Prop planes) flights even more relaxed - not even metal detectors for them (although I think that may be changing at Auckland?).

Have got something to lose really - I can't take the flight, I give the tickets to my stepson, he goes to the expense of getting to the airport then gets turned away.

They were only $9 tickets, so if it was a hassle I'd just not show up, but I'd hate to send someone to the Airport for them to have to turn around (and he lives on Waiheke, so it isn't just a drive home - it costs considerably more to travel Auckland to Waiheke then to Airport than these flights are worth).

Never been asked for ID on a domestic flight in NZ (Have in the US) and I have flown alot around NZ

Apart from maybe loosing the right to fly again and other more horrible things.

Flying these days is a pretty serious manner. Getting on a plane with someone else's ticket could be seen in many bad ways by the CAA and Airlines.

They have T*&C for reasons and some of them are backed by laws which could get you / the person pretending to be you in trouble

The reason they won't do transfers without paying exhorbitant sums is because of the pricing model, sell cheap seats first, and more expensive ones closer to the day. No transfers (in theory) stops scalpers.

Hi, I fly Jetstar regularly between Auckland and Christchurch.

If you are checking in luggage to go in the hold I have been asked for ID.

The times I have had just carry on and used the online check in they have not asked for it.

Only time I've been ID'd for a domestic flight was my first time on a plane, flying Qantas!

It's pretty simple, if airlines aren't going to enforce ID checks for every domestic passenger then they should expect this kind of thing to happen. Terms and conditions are just a way for them to ban you from flying with them in the extremely unlikely event you're caught.

And let's face it, its only Jetstar. Air NZ has a much larger domestic network and there's plenty of international options ;)

To confirm what's been posted above, a few weeks back I was flying Jetstar...

Wellington - Nelson there was no ID asked, but on the flight back when checking the bag I was asked for ID. This was the first time I was asked for an ID on a domestic flight in more than 15 years...

For domestic flights, you are not required to present any proof that you are flying, let alone ID, to pass through security screening. I fail to see how you would be entering an Aviation Security Area by deception.

For domestic flights, you are not required to present any proof that you are flying, let alone ID, to pass through security screening. I fail to see how you would be entering an Aviation Security Area by deception.

You have to be the passenger as nominated on the ticket to get into the secure areas. You may not be asked for an id but if you're caught...
