Fugly for sure
Agree. They love a lot of stuff covered in gold. Once seen a VCR that had its front face in gold!. Hideous!
Quite apart from everything else that's wrong with this, why would anyone take a six-wheel Mercedes G63 to London?

In this case, because you can I suppose.
I imagine the shipping costs are pretty hefty - could have just bought himself a nice car in London and then flogged it when he left!

Sums up nicely why Saudi Arabia and many of its residents repulse me more than probably any other nation on earth...
Easy to judge. Harder to make money and buy nice cars.

Making money when you're born a princeling in a Saudi oil sheikdom doesn't even come close to being hard or a necessity.
He's referred to as "young" in that article. I believe he's 44. Most people who have to work for a living have grown up by that age.
He deserves all the negative attention he's getting - you can't have it both ways - wanting to be seen by the world as a rich extravagant playboy but "anonymous".
He won't be worried at the high cost of running these vehicles.
What billionaire boy racers do.
Why not.

I assume that's a question?
Ostentatious, tasteless displays of (unearned) wealth could result in you being mocked in tabloid newspapers.
That might be very disappointing if you were seeking admiration and respect from the commoners - something that money can't buy.

So what? Boyracers don't care, part of their personality makeup.
Respect (perhaps not admiration) is enforced by the religous police and in chop chop square.
Your error is to look at this from your own viewpoint. What looks vulgar to us is a natural way of life to them.
Put yourself in their shoes -- quite likely arrogant personality types, like minded peer group, unlimited funds, love of cars, a bit of peer competitive spirit, so again, why not?

Confusing "respect" with "fear" is an error.
The only thing I'd add to what I've already said is that history shows that individuals who ostentatiously display wealth gained through being benefactors of brutal autocratic regimes have often tended to meet fairly grisly ends themselves, so for the sake of self-interest longer term it might not be a very smart move.
