Sorry all but I need to moan about the Auckland Terminal Transfer Bus Service. The fact that this service runs every 15 minutes is ridiculous. It should be 10 minutes at a minimum. Plus when you turn up there is nothing to indicate how far away the next bus is. I had an awful experience recently with my family where we managed to squeeze on the bus yet many other passengers were left at the terminal. The issue wasn't that there wasn't enough room on the bus(there was plenty) it was the passengers who got on the bus chose not to load their luggage into the luggage carriers or move deeper into the bus. The driver played no leadership role in organizing the passengers and when I suggested to some passengers that they move further into the bus all I received was blank stares.

We generally just walk but with young children who have just come off a long haul flight this isn't always possible. I guess a taxi is an option but really the airport with their $100 million profits should put on a better service for passengers.

Passenger loading management sounds like the biggest failure. The airport maybe could use some feedback on that part of the service.

It only takes around 8 mins to walk between the terminals and normally takes around 10-12 mins on the bus. The 15 min time is no doubt based around that, so reducing this to a 10 min service would probably require going from 1 bus to 3 which is no doubt a cost the airport comany wouldn't want to spend money on!

I've only caught the bus a couple of times over the years when it's been raining heavily but based on my observations I'd pick probably 80% of passengers walk between terminals.

I'm pretty sure they have the minimum taxi fee from the airport so you'l find it's something like $30 just to go between terminals.

Maybe they should build a fully covered walk way with a conveyor belt. Or a sky train. Auckland is getting so popular the cost should be able to be offset somewhere.

Pah! You'll be wanting an express train service to the CBD next!

Yeah i know, right. Nowhere else in the third world uses these things. Not Malaysia, China, definitely don't want these things here.

Crazy talk that.  Why would you make it easy for business travellers and tourists to get into Auckland?

Can you imagine?  People might actually go into town when they have few hours to kill and spend money.

That's not fair. Auckland Airport actually wants a train service running to it. They've even left space for it in their 2020 vision and they continue to lobby the council for it (you know, that council that part owns the airport and is probably heartily sick of hearing about trains from it by now).
