So on my next trip home I will have cause to use a car service several times. Going to be mainly in the Sheffield area. It has been suggested that the Uber Exec service is quite good. So I went to download the app and sign up. Having never used them before getting a first page request for my credit card, made me pause. A quick search online bought up the usual suspects of "the end is nigh"

So My questions

Are there any tricks to using Uber for a newbie?

Millions I presume do enter their credit card details before using , should I jump out the window as well?

Has anyone used the exec side in the UK at all?

Not sure I follow. What is your concern with giving them your credit card details? How else would they charge you for the rides?

I came across several stories regarding the hacking of uber accounts. I enter my credit card details several times a day into various places but I know them like trademe an pbtech etc. I have never used uber. If you replied with "oh man every other person I speak to seems to have been hacked on uber" Then there is a concern. Or you may say " No they are as safe as the bank of England, those stories are just beatups by disgruntled cab drivers!" Then I would feel better entering my details. In the end of course its luck of the draw as to wether you get hacked or not I guess.

I have been using uber for a while now. I think it's worth the effort, but YMMV on each driver. There is a risk with anything involving lodging your CC data, but the trust of market is for Uber to lose.

I don't understand the concern with providing your credit card details, especially with a well known service like Uber. If your account were to get hacked and money spent on your card it wouldn't be difficult getting your bank to perform a chargeback, especially if it was fraudulent spending?

You can also use Paypal for an extra layer of Security.
