Off to Queenstown on Monday with the family. We're taking a pram with us which will need to be checked in.

The pram will need to be in a bag or something to protect it from the conveyor belts. There is a luggage wrapping service but that's only at the international terminal. (Auckland airport)

Does Air NZ or anyone else give out those big plastic bags to put the pram into? I have some pallet wrap at work I can use, but won't be much use coming home again. Plus we want to be able to use the pram right up to the check-in desk.

Any suggestions most welcome :)

Air NZ use big reusable bags, after you check in at the counter you take it to the oversize luggage drop off point, and you can put it into a bag there. The bags should be large enough to take a pram. They don't provide a lot of protection, but will stop straps or the like from getting caught in the conveyor belts. When it gets to the other end they normally take it out of the bag before putting it out for you, you don't get to keep the bag.

As Nova said, AirNZ provide reusable bags which you can put your pram into.  They're quite large, have used it to put our car seat in there..

Just remember when your checking in to include it as a check in bag so you get a tag for it. It's free on AirNZ if you're travelling with an infant/toddler.
