My wife is ANZ Gold. She has two recognition upgrades due to expire shortly. She wants to use them on flights we have from AKL to SNG.

 

Sadly, not being Elite she cannot gift one to me, so if she is successful in her RU request we would end up in different cabins - me in PE and her in Business.

 

Despite not wanting to 'waste' the upgrade opportunity, she does not much like the idea of not sitting with me either.

 

What would be the most likely route (if there is one) to give us both the same chance of ending up in Business?

 

I assume One UP (although we will have to split our booking to do that, which brings other potential issues I guess) but thought the FF here might have other advice. If it is OU, what is a reasonable bid from PE to Business? It's an overnight flight so a flat bed would be pleasant.

Credit Card Spend and Actually Flying.

 

From Silver -> Gold you need 450 SP. so You get 1 SP/200$ spent on Kiwibank CC or Spend $90K over a year.. But that the Expensive way.

 

Next Best earner is Fly to AU in Business.  Its about 1 SP per $10 Flying to AU on the higher end tickets . So you'll need to spend around $4500. Even Cheaper. (maybe 2 Business return flights to Melbourne booking close to the date)

best way is to fly direct AKL-SG on a day time flight,

 

book the cheapest economy seat and bid in the top half of the allowable bidding and fly on a weekday.

 

in airnz you are not sitting together in business anyway, they're all solo walled up seats

only infants (they use a bassinet) i thought not kids (they pay for seat).
