Hope you're not planning to drive. It would be a couple or three long days' driving from Auckland to Queenstown, which wouldn't leave much of your 2-5 days. Or is the the 2-5 days the time to spend in Queenstown itself?

Following on from the above, it would be cheaper to go the other way around, where you could pick up a relocation car or campervan to move from from Queenstown to Auckland cheap.

I'm not entirely sure what OP is asking for.

 

I usually use the Novotel when I am there. It's a great location and a nice place.

Are you looking at flights? I've found google flights really easy to use for finding the cheapest flights.

Flights to queenstown & return, may be hire a vehicle to drive around queenstown..
