Feel free to move this.  I found this travel forum but it doesn't mention accommodation.

We as a family are going to AKL for just 1 night with a rental car, I have been looking at lodging options.  The very few have carparks @ $25 which we are happy with but many don't.  Also what is the going rate for accommodation?  We see even motels are $160-250 a night.

I guess motels are easier with carparks.  Many places also only have 2 large beds, we need at least 2 singles and 1 large.  Rather not book 2 separate rooms at a total of $200-300 for the night.

Cheers.

Just relative driving distance to the CBD I suppose.

That's pretty much anywhere that you would call Auckland. How close do you need? There are a lot of motels along the end of great south road in newmarket when I last had a friend stay and need a place.

I found some options with AA Travel.  Motels sounds easier with the carpark issue.  Maybe within 20min driving ....

Actually I found one on Great South Road also :)  Surprisingly cheaper than what booking.com as well.
