I've always used Ace rental cars - and most recently (1 October) booked a four day car hire with them from Dunedin airport for $24/day (a Nissan Tida).

I've just tried to book the same car for the same period of time at the same location in January next year - and the quoted price is $57/day! That's a massive increase, which doesn't seem right. Can anybody shed any light on this?  Thanks!

No doubt low vs high season as mentioned. Car prices change all the time depending on demand.

That's still a cheap price for a car. Obviously won't include any insurance I'm guessing at that price though.

I think their full insurance with no excess is $24/day. Glad I got it as I didn't realise someone had scratched my car until the inspection came at the end of the rental period! And Ace Rental Cars seem to be the only rental company who will rent to under 21s with a new vehicle too.
