No specific travel planned.  I guess for me there has been some years since I have flown anywhere and then it's just with family travel and they have focused on shopping and food.  Got to think about things and how and why I travelled.

When I travelled before I obviously grab a Lonely Planet book for a country that I am interested in, or for a few countries like SE Asia.  The book basically says all these key tourist sights, museums, galleries, the local food you can try out, the key local street markets.

For a lot of places:
Day 1 - arrive and head to hotel.
Day 2 - maybe the the key tourist site like the eiffel or great wall etc, lunch, a gallery, dinner and a walk on the waterfront.
Day 3 - maybe another key tourist site, lunch, museum, dinner, a peak lookout point.
Day 4 - maybe a street or farmers market or perhaps the beach, lunch, walkabout in a mall perhaps, dinner.
Day 5 - depart to the next city or country.

Cheers.

I don't bother with guide books anymore.  I tend to rely on trip advisor etc and other info I can find online.
