This is an interesting page where you can look at different routes and compare the performance of different airlines.

Here is a screen snip showing the Sydney to Gold Coast figures for Feb. 2018.  It is interesting that Qantas is the best but Virgin and Jetstar are not all that far behind.

The Sydney to Melbourne results are similar.  I picked the Sydney to Gold Coast route as it must be a fairly busy one.

Batman:

question: would you fly scoot on a non NZ international leg?

I would. I have watched a few Youtube trip reports featuring Scoot & they seem fine to me.  Just remember to take a book to read or have enough on your phone or tablet to keep you interested for a few hours. As they are owned by Singapore Airlines I would hope that Scoot has good maintenance & pilot training as well.
