I'm not going to name which one, but earlier this year one of the very big booking sites was advertising rooms in this hotel as from September 2018. 

The Christchurch Novotel was originally scheduled for completion in 'late 2017' & the latest date is now April 2019.  They still have a huge amount of work to do on the exterior & from what I can see an even bigger job to get all the rooms fitted out in time.  And there's quite a lot of work to do on the road & parking areas around the hotel but that aspect of the project seems to be going well.  Personally, I wouldn't bet more than $10 that they will make the new opening date of April 2019.

It's really strange how some projects in Christchurch are plagued with delays yet others go up without dramas at all.   The new Hoyts Theatre & eateries complex has just opened in the CBD, & this got done quickly and efficiently.  The new Hoyts has a bank of kiosks similar to airport check-in where you can purchase your movie tickets - so I must try it soon.
