Hi all,

My wife and I would like to do the "Discover Vanuatu" cruise operated by P&O next year in June and I know that as New Zealand passport holder I will not need a visa to do this.

The thing is my wife is an Armenian passport holder and permanent resident of New Zealand, and according to quite a few visa information websites she would require a visa for Vanuatu, but many people have told us that there is no passport control for cruise ship passengers to most Pacific Islands.

The thing is, we don't want to go to the hassle of apply for a visa if she does not need one, but we will if we are left even a little unsure when we stop seeking information. I have emailed the cruise company and they have told us to email the relevant embassy, which we have done, they have told us she would need a visa but have not replied to our email stipulating she would be on a cruise ship, not flying into the country and flying out again, but have had no reply yet.

Has anyone on here had any experience we may find relevant to this?

Why take the chance.
what’s the bigger ‘hassle’ , applying for a visa or not being allowed off the ship?

Best thing to do is ask the travel agent you booked through.
My advice would be to get a visa anyway.
