This was due to open in 'late 2017'.  They had this on signage at the airport.  Now the official opening date is November 2019.  Hotel booking sites had it opening in April 2019, and even earlier, although this has now been corrected.  judging by the current and past rate of progress even November 2019 date may be optimistic!

Thanks for moving to Travel.  As it was about 'delays' that should have reminded me to put it in travel!

Is travel the right sub-forum? This is more about delays in construction of a building.

Regardless, this building has been mismanaged from the start.   They obviously have a very poor management team in place.

They made simple mistakes like installing wet bathroom fixtures which caused fungal growth. Meaning everything had to be stripped out.

I think that staying at the Sudima Hotel or the Jucy Hotel, around 450 to 550 metres from the terminal entrances, would be a safer bet in November or December of this Year.  Chances of the new Novotel having a few glitches on opening would be fairly high!

Fletcher's must be paying massive penalties, Novotel probably don't care when it opens they will be receiving income with no staff or expenses. An unbelievable all mighty stuff up. Problems with the steel and bathroom pods, the designers didn't even include a boiler room, and that's just the stuff that made the news. No doubt there are plenty of others.

You definatley wouldn't want that build on your CV.

I don't understand how it can still be 9 months away! Walking past the other week it looked like construction was starting to wrap up.

Finishing the East side of the building exterior seems to be taking forever!  Never have so many cranes been on a site & used so randomly.

The last time I went to Chch there were streets that smelt of sewage and people were using portaloo. I am not surprised at this?
