im not sure what you mean by "travel together seat only?"
networkn: Flying airnz to gold coast. We booked works and booked seat only for the kids. Anyone know what will happen when we get to the airport? Will airnz force us to travel together seat only? Kids are 9 and 6

Pretty sure you will all get to sit together,
But your kids will still only have "seat" service, "Works" will give you a meal and movies, while they will be restricted to TV/games only
However for $10 a head you can enable their seats to have movies for the flight...
If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.

2 years ago, my mother in law, sister in law and her 1yo and 3yo children were booked on Fiji Airways for a trip to Fiji. They did their booking through a travel agent and requested bassinet row.
My wife subsequently decided to join them on the trip so I booked her directly with airline.
At checkin they are told no bassinet requested in booking, but worst thing was that the in-laws and my 3yo niece were all given seats in different rows. The 3yo niece was assigned a seat on her own 2 rows away from any other adult family member. Checkin agent didn't seem to care either. They ended up sorting seats with flight attendants who asked other passengers to switch seats.
At 6 and 9 and being well behaved quiet and polite kids, it's not the end of the world if they sit in a different row to us, though it's certainly easier to "manage" them if we are closer.
I wondered if they might insist we sit together, and if that's the case if we would get a downgrade, or they would get an upgrade.
I try to be considerate when I travel with my kids, to minimize the impact they have on other travellers, but I am confident in their travel ability. Last year we flew them both AKL-SIN unattended minors and other than the fact the stewardesses looked like my daughter talked them to death for 12 hours, everyone arrived safely and none the worse for wear.
There would be no downgrade/upgrade - the seats are all the same. They just wont get the meal and movies while you will.

My understanding is that the works seats are in a different part of the plane (Front and Mid) physically from the seat only (Rear).

ive never had an issue with the kids when booking seat only they always end up next to us, due to there being 4 of us one person normally me ends up in the row in front/behind or beside
Air New Zealand will always sit minors with their appropriate caregiver.
I think they change the headrest cover based on whether you are works or not so they can tell when they are bringing food around, and also the in flight entertainment does it automatically
