Heading down to NZ for holiday next month for 18 days. 9 days of that will be on the south island where I'll be flying into Nelson and flying out of Invercargill.

Has anyone done a one-way car rental between those locations? The only place I've found so far that does them is Europcar, but some of their rental terms seem pretty sleazy.

Perhaps you might want to look at this: http://www.cooreea.co.nz/

Not sure if they have cars.

I don't know if this is any help, but the only car rental places that have stalls and/or carparks at our friendly airport are Hertz, Avis, Thrifty (I think...) and the local rental company Riverside Rentals, who I am pretty sure are associated with some nationwide company (but I can't remember who, and it isn't listed on their website).

Being a fellow Geekzone geek, if you need any help while in Invercargill, let me know.

Didn't think to google using rental car company names, thanks Tahii. Doing so led me to Budget rental cars. Not sure when I'm getting to Invercargill, all depends on weather conditions coming down the west coast.

Maybe ask if anyone has any relocates? Not sure how many still do this, but from time to time you can get them at very good rates.

I use www.oodles.com to compare rates between the major national rental car companies. They will do one way hires at a cost to you for relocation of the vehicle. Individual car sites may have specials to relocate a vehicle.

that would be an ecumenical matter

I looked at a couple of relocation sites, nothing useful at this time.

Funny, www.oodles.com had the same exact price for the Budget (cheapest) as VroomVroomVroom.co.nz
