So, doing some forward planning here....

I have read that the new 777-300's have USB power connections in economy, for ipod's etc.

Do these ports have the punch to recharge an iPad2? these units need more power for charging....

Also.... mac power supply connectors (yes really) in economy.....

29 hours trapped in a tube.... I'd like to know my options, from folks that have ACTUALLY used what's there....

As far as I can tell (having flown on one business class earlier this week) they're for playing music on a USB stick or similar through the in-flight system. I highly doubt they'll have enough juice to charge an ipad.

From reading pre a trip to aussie it looks like they are Apple iTunes friendly USB port for playing off iphone/ipod. And low voltage charging

For stupid pricing you can also use local gprs repeaters to txt onboard :)

Seems premium get a standard power socket..

Both premium and business class seats also have a universal AC mains power socket which is designed to take most international plug configurations and provide 110v AC. There’s also a USB charging socket which will keep portable devices like phones and MP3 players juiced up, as well as a video-in socket so you can watch movies from a notebook PC, iPhone or iPad on the in-flight entertainment screen. The real brilliance of the mains socket is that unlike other airlines, you needn’t purchase a fiddly (and costly) in-flight power adaptor as most standard mains plugs will usually work just fine, allowing gadgetry to run for the duration of the entire flight.

But no clarification on sardine class

My memory escapes me a little bit - I flew on the new 777-300 to LAX in October last year. There is a USB port available on all seats (which I used to charge my Samsung Galaxy S2 - I can't recall if it came up as USB or AC implying 2A output but as they advertise it as iPhone/iPod compatible then it's quite possible). In-seat AC only seems to be available in some seats - the skycouch enabled section definately has it, but from memory the rearmost standard economy seats don't all have in-seat AC (certainly I couldn't find it at my particular seat).
