From 5 days ago. Trump certainly loves Putin, so don't be bad-mouthing his best bud.

Russia has provided Iran with information that can help Tehran strike US military, AP sources say: AP News

Russia has provided Iran with information that could help Tehran strike American warships, aircraft and other assets in the region, according to two officials familiar with U.S. intelligence on the matter.
...
Trump on Friday evening berated a reporter for raising the matter
...
“I have a lot of respect for you, you’ve always been very nice to me,” Trump said to Peter Doocy, the Fox News reporter. “What a stupid question that is to be asking at this time. We’re talking about something else.”

White House officials downplayed the reports, but did not deny that Russia was sharing intelligence with Iran about U.S. targets in the region. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Friday told reporters that “it clearly is not making any difference with respect to the military operations in Iran because we are completely decimating them.”

Russia ‘helping’ Iran ‘in many different directions’ amid war: Araghchi: The Hill

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Sunday underscored Tehran’s relationship with Moscow, as reports that Russia is providing the Middle Eastern country with intelligence have surfaced amid the U.S. military campaign in the region.

“A military cooperation between Iran and Russia is not something new. It’s not a secret. It has been in the past, and it’s still there, and will continue in the future,” Araghchi told NBC News’s Kristen Welker on “Meet The Press,” describing the relationship as “a very good partnership.”

Welker pressed Araghchi, asking the foreign minister, “So they are helping you? They are providing intelligence?”

“Well, they are helping us in many different directions,” Araghchi responded. “I don’t have any detailed information.”

President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have dismissed concerns that Russia is supporting Iran, as its conflict with the U.S. and Israel stretches into its second week.

Yes, but as this analyst says, notice how Russia is not providing boots on the ground or air defence weapons.

His main point, to save you 10 minutes, is that Russia is weakened after 4 years of war (sorry, special military operation) with Ukraine.

Israel picked a time when Iran's main ally can't help them.

Rikkitic: Watch out USA: https://abcnews.com/US/fbi-warns-iran-aspired-attack-california-drones-retaliation/story?id=130973820

Anything like that would be a potentially very silly move on Iran's part. It would inevitably increase domestic support for Trump at a time when Trump's domestic support is on the ropes for multiple reasons including the war.

Based on the War in the Ukraine ... I wouldn't place a lot of value on military advice from Russia.

Trump would just buy extra McDonalds and enjoy the show.   Trump himself has threatened California.
MAGA see California as a source of evil heretics.

Florida might be a different matter.

Just outlasting Trump by blocking the straights is pretty much all they have to do now, so attacking USA unnecessary.

It would be nice if people would be able to revolt, but IRGC have already killed many who were up for it.
They have experience helping Assad last for so long. Not sure Trump can wait that long.

Yeah, closing the straight of Hurmuz Iran will basically be declaring war on Europe and China, which I think they're not prepared to do

I believe the straight of Hurmuz only Iranian and Chinese ships are squawking their identity, keep on AIS Transponders.

For the sneaky Chinese, that may be futile because multiple ships in the Gulf changed their AIS to pretending to be Chinese to avoid Iranian attacks.

Iran may have attacked a ship advertising itself as Chinese yesterday with a naval drone.

That may have come down to lack of communications, or someone got close enough to the ship to say "Hey, that not's Chinese! Attack"

Based on 2026 intelligence, Iran May have up to 6,000 naval mines. The "influence mines" detect magnetic, acoustic, or pressure of vessels.

Typical naval mines do not interact with AIS at all. None are known to read utilize AIS.

In other words, if a Chinese ship squawking its identity happens upon a mine, boom. AIS spoofing does nothing to protect a vessel from mines.

Iran may deploy naval mines in Strait of Hormuz, US intelligence believes - report: Jerusalem Post

Iran has already demonstrated large naval assets and even mines are not needed for severe disruption to that traffic. Iran has also demonstrated in severe circumstances it's military will operate to a plan independently of command. Boots on the ground seem almost inevitable although the US and Israel are avoiding any hint of that nature for domestic politics reasons.

The Washington Post - The Iranian school where 175 were killed was on a U.S. target list.

12 March 2026

  •     The Iranian elementary school where at least 175 people were killed, many of them children, was on a U.S. target list, multiple people familiar with the strike told The Washington Post.

  •     The school may have been mistaken for a military site, those people told The Post, either because of bad intelligence or proximity to an actual military site.

  •     Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has alleged schools in Iran were being used to launch attacks, and President Donald Trump suggested without evidence that Iran may have attacked the school.

EDIT:  The school building was fenced off from a nearby military base about 10 years ago.

US Central Command said it is carrying out rescue efforts after it lost a military refuelling aircraft in “friendly airspace” in Iraq, while saying neither hostile or friendly fire were to blame. A statement said “rescue efforts are ongoing” after an incident involving two planes, the second of which landed safely.

The Bulwark - The Words of War Republicans Refuse to Say

13 March 2026

While President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have at times referred to the operation as a “war,” GOP lawmakers have been fastidious about calling it anything else.

Boots on the ground” is the other phrase they mincingly dance around, since at that point it becomes pretty much impossible to insist this is an “excursion,” as Trump likes to say, clearly confusing that word for “incursion.”

But it’s getting harder for them.

That’s because it seems evident that boots being put on the ground in Iran is where this thing is heading ... the administration’s stated goals suggest that American troops will be deployed into Iran soon ...

EDIT:  Republicans senators are nervous about a longer-term conflict that could include American troops in Iran.

Yeah, I mean clearly they remember what happens to Washington's boots on the ground as soon as it becomes inconvenient for Washington. To be fair, it's not like they need to read a history book on Osama bin Laden. They only have to remember back about ... what 4 years? ... since the Yanks pulled out of Afghanistan.
