I would not be at all sorry if Donald John Trump died a long, slow and painful death. Kiss my ass National Security Agency and Secret Service. I'll never visit your country.

You don't have to. They will visit you.

kingdragonfly: I'm not making any suggestions, but perhaps life will imitate art with a Abqaiq–Khurais attack 2.0.

Please note Secret Service, I'm not associated with the Iranians. Heck I don't even know an Iranian kebab shop owner.

I'm not recommending a course of action, just saying it's always a bad idea to poke a hornet's nest.

If only.

Election 2020? Pence vs just about any Dem candidate? No problem. Even the GOPs don't like him.

Here we go

President Donald Trump said on Saturday the United States has targeted 52 Iranian sites that it would strike if Iran attacks any Americans or any US assets in response to Friday's US drone strike that killed Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani in Iraq.

BBC News - US 'targeting' 52 Iranian sites if Tehran attacks

today

President Trump has warned the US is "targeting" 52 Iranian sites and will strike "very fast and very hard" if Tehran hits Americans or US assets.

His comments followed the US assassination of Qasem Soleimani, a top Iranian general, in a drone strike.

Iran has vowed to avenge his killing.

Mr Trump wrote on Twitter that Iran "is talking very boldly about targeting certain USA assets" in response to the general's death.

He said the US has identified 52 Iranian sites, some "at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture, and those targets, and Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD" if Tehran strikes the US.

"The USA wants no more threats!" Trump added. ...

Yes. While I am obviously not in favour of any attacks on anyone, how can the US attack Iran, then tell them if you retaliate we will blow you away?

Iran will simply use proxies, claim plausible deniability, yell for help when attacked anyway, and the world will slide into war.

The New York Times -
In Era of Perpetual Conflict, a Volatile President Grabs Expanded Powers to Make War

today

The killing of Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani is the latest example of the capricious way in which the president, as commander in chief, has chosen to flex his lethal powers. ...

There has been a dizzying turnover in his national security team: In three years, the president has had four national security advisers, two secretaries of state, two defense secretaries and one acting defense secretary. ...

An important difference between Hitler and Trump is that Hitler, evil as he was, had a clear plan and a coherent strategy to achieve it. Things only fell apart for him later in the War as he deteriorated physically and mentally.

Trump is not so much evil as he is opportunistic. He has no grand strategy beyond personal survival and self-aggrandisement. Those religious conservatives who think he serves their cause or any other are going to be very disappointed.

Hitler was a terrible, terrible human being. Trump is merely random and inchoate. He does not have the imagination or intelligence or discipline to formulate a grand plan. He merely lashes out and breaks things as the moment takes him, precisely like the spoilt child he is. This is the one the Americans have put in charge of the fate of the world.

Is it likely Trump will want to show force to Iran? Show the plebs he means business, should some facility in the US gets some attack? Would that gain votes or lose some?

Targeting cultural sites is a war crime. Apart from that, when you attack a deeply religious and cultured society, and destroy sites like that, thats a huge error to make. It would quadruple the Iranian resolve.

Don't even hint at such a thing. These days you don't know who might take it seriously.

My New Year's wish is that Trump receives a life sentence at the bottom of a Mexican long drop. That is far more satisfying.

No, I wish for him and the kids to all get relatively short sentences - say 5 years for him and 20 years for the kids - but more importantly to have all their assets seized, passports cancelled, banned from becoming an officer of any company. I want Trump to end his days flipping burgers at McDonalds 80 hours a week on minimum wage (garnished to pay for the rest of his fines) to make rent on his one room bedsit. Same for the kids. Just for longer.

When you think the GOP couldn't get any worse: Donald Trump Jr and Ivanka Trump among top Republican picks for 2024.
