Isn't that what they already have? (No signs of leadership presently!)

LOL I don't think anytime soon is going to be "the right time" for anything like this. Maybe after the election and all the votes have been counted, give it a shot then Ducky.
I reckon the only reason he's now wearing a mask and pretending to care about the coronavirus is he realises he's losing all the way down. I'm reading John Bolton's book and I can see a lot of what he says and does everyday, and I have to say holy Christ does Trump love Kim Jong-Un and Vladimir Putin or what.

The Washington Post - Trump’s week of retreat: The president reverses course as the coronavirus surges out of control
today
President Trump was adamant that Congress cut payroll taxes - until, suddenly, he backed down.
He demanded that all of the nation’s schools reopen for the fall semester - until, suddenly, he allowed for some wiggle room.
He insisted upon filling every seat at the Republican National Convention celebration - until, suddenly, he canceled the event.
And he refused to wear a mask in public - until, suddenly, he did, and morphed into a mask evangelist.
For Trump, this has been a week of retreat. ...
Weakened politically by his response to the pandemic, Trump changed course after polls showed his positions did not align with public attitudes or - as was the case with the payroll tax cut - his Republican allies on Capitol Hill declined to advance his interests. ...
