The Washington Post - In secretly recorded audio, President Trump’s sister says he has ‘no principles’ and ‘you can’t trust him’
today (a short extract from a long a damning article)
Maryanne Trump Barry was serving as a federal judge when she heard her brother, President Trump, suggest on Fox News, “maybe I’ll have to put her [Barry] at the border” amid a wave of refugees entering the United States.
At the time, children were being separated from their parents and put in cramped quarters while court hearings dragged on.
“All he wants to do is appeal to his base,” Barry said in a conversation secretly recorded * by her niece, Mary L. Trump.
“He has no principles. None. None. And his base, I mean my God, if you were a religious person, you want to help people. Not do this.”
Barry, 83, was aghast at how her 74-year-old brother operated as president.
“His goddamned tweet and lying, oh my God,” she said. “I’m talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying. Holy sh*t.” ...
Barry has never spoken publicly about disagreements with the president, and her extraordinarily candid comments in the recordings mark the most critical comments known to have been made about him by one of his siblings.
No one else in the family except Mary Trump has publicly rebuked the president. ...
Yes, Donald Trump's older sister is a retired Federal judge .... 😮
* Under New York law, it is legal to tape a conversation with the consent of one party, which in this case was Mary Trump.

Oldmanakbar: Its so sad they don't actually have to make anything up for these.
So what about the video of the mailboxes being ripped out? I suppose that was fake too? As well as removing the sorting machines? And remember Trump outright said (initially anyway) he was going to withhold funding to deter mail-in voting.
Isn't it strange how all this is happening, mere months before an election? Or is it all just a coincidence?

This except is also illuminating:
Maryanne said on another occasion that her brother kept asking about Fox News. One day, Barry said, the president called her and said, “Did you watch Fox News?”
No,” Barry said she told the president.
“Why not?” he said.
“I don’t watch much television at all,” Barry said she responded.
“What do you do?” the president asked.
“I read,” Barry replied.
“What do you read?” the president said.
“Books,” Barry said.
The president was incredulous. “You don’t watch Fox?”
"If you don't watch Fox how can you know The Truth?

There’s definitely some resistance theater going on here and flat out lies in that video
-Trump doesn’t select the Postmaster General, a bipartisan panel does
CommonDreams: Asked whether the board interviewed other qualified candidates for the postmaster general role, Williams answered in the affirmative and characterized DeJoy as uniquely unfit for the job, recounting that he had to be coached through his interviews. Williams said DeJoy's appointment was pushed by John Barger, a board member and Republican donor who—according to Williams—helped DeJoy "finish a number of sentences where he got stuck" and "explained to the board what Mr. DeJoy meant during the presentation."
The Washington Post - Trump’s campaign dismiss secret audio in which his sister says ‘you can’t trust him’
23 August 2020
The White House and the Trump campaign on Sunday dismissed a secretly recorded tape in which Trump’s sister Maryanne Trump Barry said the president has “no principles” and “you can’t trust him.”
Mary L. Trump, the president’s niece, surreptitiously taped the 15 hours of face-to-face conversations with Barry in 2018 and 2019.
She provided The Washington Post with previously unreleased transcripts and audio excerpts.
In an interview Sunday on ABC News’s “This Week,” White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows * said Trump “has been public with his response - you know, just another day and another attack that we continue to see.” ...
“The president that I have the privilege of serving is not the one that’s being described on a 15-hour … secret tape,” Meadows said. “I mean, what family member tapes another family member for 15 hours secretly?” ...

Only a lopsided show of force would overcome undelivered mail, closed polling sites and Trump’s schemes.
[Speakers at the 2020 Democratic convention] didn’t urge voters to merely cast more mail-in ballots than Trump’s supporters do, or merely show up on Election Day in greater numbers, or merely deliver Joe Biden and Kamala Harris any old margin of victory.
They urged a show of force so lopsided that it would be able to overcome undelivered mail, closed polling sites, whatever schemes Trump might hatch and, on the far side of that, his insistence that any vote count that doesn’t put him on top is rigged and illegitimate.
What a chillingly cynical perspective. And what an entirely accurate one. ...

-Trump doesn’t select the Postmaster General, a bipartisan panel does
-the inexperienced Postmaster General actually has 30+ yrs experience in logistics companies
-Trump isn't defunding USPS, that’s 30 years of Congress deficit hawkery and accounting for pensions, including by Obama
-USPS delivers 143 billion mail items a year, of course it can deliver, collect then deliver voters ballots in time, the problem is the states voting systems not USPS mailboxes or sorting machines
ROFL. "Nothing to see here Cleetus". Go one step further than revisionist history - revise the present as well.
There's a full-on campaign by the POTUS and Republicans to disenfranchise voters, by foul means or fouler:
Any other POTUS would have been impeached for that tweet, and convicted by a senate - except they're terrified by the possibility that if Trump loses, then when this dystopian nightmare is over - a lot of them could get locked up.
