nathan: The President is still in charge until Inauguration which marks the beginning of a sane President on January 20.
FTFY. Always optimistic.
SJB:Does anybody know how much governing power the President and his Adminstration has between the result of the election and Inauguration Day?
Someone as petty and vindictive as Chump could create havoc in the intervening period if he still has power to do so.

Usually a "lame duck" politician admits defeat, or his base moves on.
We've already seen Trump floating the idea multiple times of postponing the election, and already beating the "the other side is cheating, so if I lose the election is invalid."
I don't think anyone in their right mind thinks Trump will suddenly act with dignity and grace.
Trump didn't run, on having any dignity or grace (!)
Swing states Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin likely decide the electoral college this time, and its likely we won't know the result on election night
We've already seen Dems say Russia is rigging votes, and so if they lose the election is invalid

They said that last time - the senate report confirms they were correct - including that there was collusion between the campaign and Russians connected to Putin - but no serious argument that the election was "invalid". A dirty crook had been elected by a minority, then protected by a majority who weren't elected on the basis of universal suffrage - but that one citizen's vote could be worth 70 times more than another citizen's.
I wonder what will happen to the Republicans if he loses. He's such a suffocating presence, with any criticism or opposition from his own side simply shouted down that you never really hear about anybody else the party could regroup around.
If you take the last UK election Labour with Corbyn were running with an extreme left wing agenda and lost really badly. They seem to have dumped all that now and reverted to a left of centre approach.
Could the Republican party do the same and revert to right of centre rather that extreme right or are they too far gone.

Trump and the Senate will still have all the power they have now. Just nothing to risk as they are on their way out. I wouldn't be suprised to see a bunch of stuff rushed through like in Wisconsin in 2018 where the state leglisature and outgoing Republican Scott Walker stripped a lot of power off the Governor's office after a Democrat won the governeratorial election https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/12/4/18123784/gop-legislature-wisconsin-michigan-power-grab-lame-duck
Read a similar based article yesterday re citizens supportung Biden even though they are Republicans. Took with a few grains of salt though, but this seems big

anything to defeat Trump, no morals or ethics or policies or memories required - welcoming enablers of George Bush's failed wars, and deficit hawks into the Democratic party. The party in 2020 certainly is a 'big tent and all sorts of folks fit underneath it'.

Trump and the current GOP have no moral, ethics, policies or memories.

Dems already taking up that space - right of center. Dems are regressive, Republicans conservative.
Workers are divided on purpose, the white workers vote republican, the brown & black workers vote Democrat, they both fight over suburban white votes, and the elites and the establishment always win because nothing ever changes, and 100M don't vote at all because ¯_ (ツ)_/¯
Statistically with the changing face of America, Republicans will have to change, before they are too far gone

My bet is nothing happens. An Executive order, can be undone, with a signature by Biden on Day ~1.
Senate won't pass anything, they won't even pass a pandemic relief bill to help American workers and families, probably the one thing they could do to save Trump - spend money in a pandemic, but their ideology blinds them. 29M adults not enough food, 15M renters behind on rent, Trumps new $300 unemployment benefit lasts 3 weeks, poverty rates above great recession levels; but she'll be right mate...

BBC News - Republican National Convention: Trump warns of 'rigged election'
today
US President Donald Trump has warned his fellow Republicans their opponents may "steal" November's election, as his party anointed him as their candidate.
"They're using Covid to defraud the American people," Mr Trump told delegates on the first day of the party convention in North Carolina.
Mr Trump repeated his much-disputed claims that mail-in ballots could lead to voter fraud.
Addressing delegates in person at a party conference that has been dramatically scaled down by Covid-19, Mr Trump accused Democrats of "using Covid to steal an election".
"The only way they can take this election away from us is if this is a rigged election," he said. "We're going to win." ...
