nathan:

I like to blow their minds, when they knock on my door here by shaking their hands, and giving them their secret "heaven entry VIP queue" handshake back to them

Years ago my SO used to work for a NZ company that made and exported "temple garments" (the funny underwear some Mormons wear).

These "when properly worn ... provides protection against temptation and evil".  Wouldn't work for me.

Somewhat odd when certain elements in "America" go postal about "burkinis" or turbans.

Well there is an official code of conduct investigation underway....

Good.
I think he's toast.
An investigation will probably take weeks to conclude - even if he's eventually fired for serious misconduct.  I bet as a typical Libertarian, he'll be a hypocrite and try and get the TEU or other union on side.  I think when they see what a piece of detritus he's been, they'll smile and do only what they're obliged to do.

Goodbye Professor "Mr" Chumps.

Some of our guests in NZ make me very happy when they arrive, some make me very happy when they have to leave.

If you ever have children (heaven forbid), please let them know the full reason why your "academic career as professor" in NZ was so brief.

Bon voyage / Fred99

kingdragonfly: I guess most people don't know that Mormons are strict on wearing magic underwear

Many religions have odd dress requirements I don't see it is particularly unusual. The style shown in the video above possibly predates a recent update. Official video has similar points:

and not growing a beard without a doctor’s approval.

Mostly myth. A rule was introduced in the 60's to discourage unshaven students/hippies at BYU. This still applies at BYU although in practice slightly relaxed. Does not apply to Joe average Mormon.

kingdragonfly: From the Guardian
James Harmston's letters to his youngest bride threaten fire and brimstone for her refusal to sleep with him. Not only would Rachael, 43 years his junior, have "a lonely miserable life" in this world for not going to his bed, but it would be far worse in the next..

The "True And Living Church of .." is a small cult of around 500 members. Their practices are not really comparable to any average Mormon. Established by a real estate developer to make something great again..

Theogically incorrect. In the Bible - Heaven does not have four corners. The thing about angels coming from various geographic regions on the Earth seems unusual as well.

Yes it does:

And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.

Well OK, it's a cube. A since it absorbs the consciousness of all those who end up in it, it's really this:

So heaven is a big cube.

If each floor was 100 meters tall, by my calculations, it would have a floor area of about 1,000 earth's land space.

However it would not be pleasant:

"Moreover, the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun and the light of the sun shall be 7X the light of 7 days."

Someone calculated that Heaven's temperature would be 525ºC, hotter than the daytime temperature on Mercury and higher than the melting point of zinc.

This is the New Jerusalem - not Heaven.

I applaud your attempt at cinematic televangelism though. It was very convincing ; ).

13 Minutes into the 16 Min segment last night from Stephen Colberts show.

Stephen Rips Up The Monologue And Starts Over After Trump's Heartbreaking Thursday Night Lie Fest

You can see Trumps favorite Evangelical leader in action, summoning angels from Africa to change the vote ?
Ok never mind how wrong this is on multiple theological levels.
They lap this up and fill the collection tray so their leaders can by mansions and new jets on this ?

Demon Sperm probably really makes sense to them ?

Whatever happened to entertaining the congregation with a bag of rattlesnakes.

Its false profits all the way down.

Religion the #1 evil thing in the world, Politics the 2nd - America does a great job of merging the two like I could never have imagined 1+1=3

But writing off your political opponents as crazy stupid people, as is silly as trying to win the Whitehouse by ignoring rural or Latino voters.

It all traces back to the US education system
