From the Independent

LeBron James calls on Elon Musk to take action after use of n-word surges 500% on Twitter since takeover

Following the acquisition, figures linked to Russia and Chinese-sponsored media also called for propaganda labels to be removed from their content. Sexist, anti-trans and homophobic tweets were also on the rise in the aftermath of Mr Musk’s Twitter takeover.

The SpaceX boss has said he believes strongly in absolute free speech, and that it is “important to the future of civilisation” to have a space where “a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner.”

This american insistence on absolute free speech is very damaging to their democracy now - and they can't see it because they've been brainwashed that their constitution is perfect.

Like various prophets / cult leaders, it's hard to know when they are intentionally lying, or deluded / naive / wreckless.

Even though Musk didn't choose the Tesla name, he shares some characteristics with Nikola Tesla.

Nikola was quite impractical in financial matters and an eccentric, driven by compulsions and a progressive germ phobia.

Interestingly Howard Hughes was also obsessed with germs. When he died his hair, beard, fingernails, and toenails were long. Though he was tall 6 ft 4 in / 193 cm, he died weighing barely 90 pounds / 41 kg

He was so unrecognizable the FBI had to use fingerprints to conclusively identify the body.

Geektastic: I hope he shuts it down. Ghastly thing. Ideally Facebook, Wikipedia and Google are next on his list.

Wikipedia? That's a.... controversial opinion. Any particular reason why?

Left wing bias in the entries is fairly common.

Allowing unqualified numpties to edit something that is a principle source of reference seems unwise to me.

Source for that assertion?

Wikipedia isn't a primary source, and has never claimed to be. Every fact on it is meant to be cited, and the cite must be a primary source.

I've read a comment (I can't recall where) that asserted Musk is more like Edison than Tesla (who would be appalled at Musk).

You mean Musk is active in publishing anti-Semitism?

New York Times: Antisemitic campaign tries to capitalize on Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover.

The campaign appeared to start after Mr. Musk had officially taken control of the company.

Stuff: Musk – The benign sociopath

Gwynne Dyer is a UK-based Canadian journalist and historian who writes about international affairs.

OPINION: Elon Musk is that rarest of things, a benign sociopath, and therefore a person of considerable value to the world.

He has just made a mistake that could ruin his long-term plan, for his purchase of Twitter is almost bound to end in tears.
...
His skill set is not relevant to running a social media platform, but Twitter will be a mighty distraction for him and all his other enterprises could end up on the rocks as a result.

Musk’s finances are not exactly transparent, but it is clear that much of the money to buy Twitter comes out of his own pockets or from bank loans secured on his properties.

The sensible thing would be to get out fast and absorb his losses, but it not clear that anybody else would want to buy the company.

Paul Pelosi is speaker of the United States House of Representatives' husband, Nancy Pelosi. The intruder is accused of breaking into her house using a hammer, and attempting to kidnap her. Her husband was attacked with a hammer.

The deleted article said that he had brought a male prostitute into the couple's house, and they got into a drunken brawl. It didn't explain the hammer.

Previously the same source claimed “that Hillary Clinton had died and that a body double had been sent to debate Donald Trump.”

CNBC News: Elon Musk, new owner of Twitter, tweets unfounded anti-LGBTQ conspiracy theory about Paul Pelosi attack

Musk sent the since-deleted tweet, which linked to a story on a website that has a history of publishing false information, to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Musk’s tweet had more than 24,000 retweets and 86,000 likes late Sunday morning before he deleted it.

It's this kind of thing which has pushed my opinion of Musk off the fence. How can a 'genius' be so stupid? When it's on purpose.

I've heard some analysis that Twitter has only ever made a profit for two quarters. Ads account for roughly 90 percent of Twitter's revenue.

Forbes: GM, Pfizer, Audi Pull Ads From Twitter After Musk Sale—Here Are The Other Companies Rethinking Their Ties

The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that General Mills, Pfizer, Audi, Volkswagen and Mondelez International Inc.—the maker of Oreos—stopped advertising on Twitter after Musk took over the company, in part due to concerns about how Twitter will moderate content.

Automakers Ford and General Motors told Forbes last week they will not be buying ad space on Twitter until they better understand the platform's future.
...
Musk recently told investors he wants to triple the number of daily users who see ads on Twitter, according to the Washington Post.
...
Musk is reportedly planning to fire 50% of Twitter's roughly 7,500-person staff starting Friday, prompting concerns the cuts could impact content moderation and security on the website. He's already fired several top executives, including some who worked with advertisers.
...
Musk has also pointed to an enhanced Twitter Blue subscription service as a way of increasing revenue, but his proposal to charge $8 a month for users to acquire or keep a verified check mark has been widely panned. A Forbes analysis found some 10.4 million users would have to buy into the subscription service to cover the company's debts—about 25 times more than the 400,000 accounts that have been verified for free.

Its probably worth missing out on Arnold Schwarzenegger as President.
That Musk can't.

Arnie might have been a fun president.

Dwane Johnson could however as he was born in Hayward California.
The Rock as President, I guess they could, and have done much worse.

Musk can just join the queue of dark money financers influencing things behind the curtain.

A donor secretly transferred $1.6bn to a Republican political group. Because of America’s lax laws, the donation was never disclosed in any public record or database
