I expect in ANZAC spirit we will not be sending ships either.

Australia rules out sending naval ships to Strait of Hormuz

Besides its a hassle painting Trump's suggested unit marking, concentric circles that look like a Bullseye. :-)

By all accounts China is getting its oil ok from Iran, India has made arrangements to get its ships through.

I suspect that our Admirals would be equally unexcited as the US Navy ones are, and I expect the RAN Admirals too, at the idea of sending one of our warships into an environment where they would have very limited maneuvering room and the Iranians could launch a swarm of maybe fifty Shahad drones that would overwhelm the anti-aircraft defences and cause mass casualties and possibly the loss of a ship.

Nobody's navy has ships designed or equipped to fight and win in that kind of littoral environment, the maritime equivalent of the Ukraine / Russia front lines. Ukraine, a country that doesn't have a Navy has driven the Russian Navy out of the Black Sea - a far more friendly environment than the Strait of Hormuz..

kingdragonfly: Let's treat Trump's request for assitance the same as his treatment of the dead American soliders; limited support at best.

Because Trump skipped over the whole "let's tell the allies what we'd like to do, and get Congress approval to declare a war because I had a feeling Iran was going to attack", the American solidiers' widows are missing these benefits

  • Expanded Survivor Benefits: higher benefit rates or new provisions could be aimed at supporting families during wartime

  • Gold Star Families: a formal war declaration could enhance these benefits or establish new avenues for support.

  • Hazardous Duty Pay and Combat Pay: greater financial support to soldiers deployed in conflict zones.

  • increased Healthcare and Disability compensation

  • Presumptive Conditions: if a service member develops a certain illness or condition (PTSD, cancers related to environmental exposures in combat zones), it is easier for them to claim benefits.

  • Education Benefits for Survivors: might have access to educational benefits like the Post-9/11 GI Bill

  • Social Security and Civilian Compensation: might prompt legislation that enhances these benefits for surviving spouses, children, or dependent parents of service members who perish in combat

If Trump or Barron had ever been a courageous and fought as soldier, I'm sure they would consider these benfits beneficial.

Returnees? He'll just call them all losers (because it will take longer than 14 days) and there will be absolutely nothing. 😁

Iran's IRGC again warns American owned industries in gulf countries will be targeted including tech companies:

https://aje.news/s2q1rc?update=4405394

"“We warn the defeated American regime to evacuate all American industries in the region, and we ask the people of the areas around the industrial factories in which the Americans are shareholders to evacuate those areas so that they are not harmed,” its spokesperson said in a message reported by Iran’s Tasnim news agency. It was not immediately clear which companies would be targeted, but last week the news agency published a list of potential targets on Telegram that included the offices of tech giants such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Nvidia in Gulf countries."

Kyiv Post - Trump Warns of ‘Very Bad’ Future For NATO Over Lack of Support in Strait of Hormuz

16 March 2026

US President Donald Trump warned that NATO faces a “very bad” future if its members do not support Washington in its efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway through which roughly one-fifth of global oil supplies pass.

It’s only appropriate that people who are the beneficiaries of the Strait will help to make sure that nothing bad happens there,” Trump told the Financial Times.

If there’s no response or if it’s a negative response I think it will be very bad for the future of NATO.”

We’ve been very sweet. We didn’t have to help them with Ukraine. Ukraine is thousands of miles away from us … But we helped them. Now we’ll see if they help us.”

The NY Times - A Predictable problem

16 March 2026

Iran’s willingness and ability to disrupt the global economy by choking off the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping lane for oil and trade, caught the Trump administration by surprise.

That in itself is something of a surprise. Because this was not a secret plan.

Before the United States and Israel first launched strikes, Iran embarked on a tour of the Gulf and warned that if attacked, it would inflict maximum economic pain on the region and the world.

Its best leverage for doing that? A narrow waterway that connects the Persian Gulf to the open ocean - and is fiendishly difficult to secure. ...

The strait has become “exhibit A" in Iran’s ability to seize an asymmetric advantage against its more powerful enemies.

Why Can't America Just Takeover Iran's Strait of Hormuz?

Justin Taylor

"Why can't the United States not just control the straight of Hormuz?

Iran has recently effectively shut it down and is not holding back on hitting ships that are making the daring move attempt sailing through it. America is now asking other countries for help while it struggles to defend it.

And one would think that with us blowing up every piece of Iranian military tech we could find over the last few weeks, this shouldn't be a problem. And yet, it is.

So, why was effectively wiping out an entire country's military from the sky easy, but defending a tiny strip of water is impossible?"

Iran is exporting more oil than they were last month.

USA attacks on Karg Island are just 'military' targets refueling keeps going.
Fox commentators miss that bombing Karg Island is not affecting Iran exports for their audience.

Ships going through are actually diverting close to Iranian coast so Iran can identify them as approved.
An assured narrow channel between mainland and an Island to be free of attacks.
If you do a deal with Iran in Chinese Yuan, maybe Rupee too?

Bessent has confirmed that USA is letting Iran and friends tankers past.

With oil prices almost doubled, Iran profiting to buy/smuggle more weapons like Russia?
A big part of Epstein's fortune/protection may have been due to arms smuggling.
For interesting connection to' Epstein War'.

Who has leverage over who?

Who would help a criminal, threatening idiot with a live hand grenade lodged in his head? What does he think he's doing, that we've already mentally said goodbye to him?

The NY Times - ‘This Is Not Our War’: Europe and U.K. Push Back Against Trump’s Demands

16 March 2026

As President Trump’s assault on Iran enters its third week, European leaders are largely resisting his bellicose demands for help in reopening the Strait of Hormuz.  ...

Nick Carter, Britain’s former chief of the defense staff, said in an interview with BBC Radio that it would be inappropriate for NATO forces to join the United States and Israel in their war against Iran.

NATO was created as “a defensive alliance, and all of its articles are essentially oriented towards the defense,” he said. “It was not an alliance that was designed for one of the allies to go on a war of choice and then oblige everybody else to follow.”

The Bulwark - Our Low-IQ President Did an Oopsie

18 March 2026

Mining the Strait of Hormuz is the single biggest danger America faced when heading into any conflict with Iran.

How did our commander-in-chief plan to deal with it?

Six months ago the Navy decommissioned its four Avenger-class minesweepers that had been stationed in Bahrain precisely to deal with Iranian mines.

It gets dumber: Those four American minesweepers left the theater in mid-January - while war planning for the current operation must already have been underway. ...

Even dumber ... insulting the European allies upon whom we would depend to assist [with minesweeping].

The Germans have the 3rd Minesweeping Squadron, composed of ten ships headquartered in Kiel. France has eight of the aging Tripartite-class minehunters. Poland has six modern Kormoran II-class MCM ships which would be extremely helpful should Iran deploy mines. ...

The Brits had one MCM ship, HMS Middleton, stationed in Bahrain. It left on January 25. Perhaps if President Trump had consulted our closest ally before going to war, he could have asked the Brits to leave Middleton in place?

I suspect that the Middleton's crew are very glad to be on the other side of the Strait.  ☺️

The counter-claims and smear campaign have already started, with Leavitt being one of the most vocal and Trump saying he didn't really know him and that he probably didn't know much about what he was employed to do.
