Imo the single biggest change any American president could make to increase democracy is

appoint elected members of Congress to head departments of the administration.

Elected representatives will serve as ministers of the administration instead of random unelected people off the street - like the president's entire family for instance. No constitutional change is required to achieve this.

This from CNN: Trump has acknowledged to some allies he recognizes the electoral math will not work in his favor, according to people familiar with the conversations, but has maintained that a prolonged court battle and corrosive rhetoric about election fraud would sow enough doubt to allow him to refuse to accept the results.

I'm not worried about Trump launching a coup. Some of the fanatics enabling him are another matter. So far there have been no instances of serious violence that I am aware of, but the streets have been filling with people milling around and making rumbling sounds. Things could blow when Biden is declared. I hope they don't.

When Biden wins there will be civil unrest.

If Trump had won there would have been civil unrest.

When the Lakers win there was civil unrest.
