The Washington Post - Election 2020 live updates: Joe Biden projected to be the nation’s 46th president

5:48am

Former vice president Joe Biden is projected to win Pennsylvania and its 20 electoral votes, according to Edison Research, putting him over the 270 needed to win the presidency.

The call came about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, after a report of more counted votes from Pennsylvania.

With the victory, Sen. Kamala D. Harris of California is set to become the highest-ranking woman in the nation’s 244-year existence.

The latest on vote counting in the states still in play …

Georgia: Biden is up in the count by 4,430 votes. Counties have finished counting early and absentee ballots and are focused on provisional ballots. The narrow margin is expected to trigger a recount.

Nevada: Biden is leading in the count by 22,657 votes. More vote counts are expected at noon Eastern time. State officials have said they will now release results twice a day.

Arizona: Biden leads the count by about 20,500 votes after a large batch of votes was reported at 11 a.m. Eastern.

EDIT   "Fox was more generous to Biden than many others in its projection of the electoral votes, having made an early call that showed Biden winning Arizona in a move that enraged both Donald Trump and the network’s own rabid fan base. "

Both Georgia senate seats will go to a run off.

If the democrats win them both it'll be 50:50 in the senate.

Well done America! Uncle Sam now has to sweep up a lot of broken pieces, but better today than in four years!

Then the Vice President has the mandate (I think) ;-)

Did I miss the gracious concession speech?!

MF, you will have to add Ex to this sub forum title come Jan 20! But keep it going as I am sure it will provide heaps of entertainment and instruction on legal stuff.

Also, thanks to so many of you for all the hard work in compiling entries here. And, yes, we know you had to pay for news subscriptions as well.

But, in the meantime, let the entertainment and edification continue........

Earlier on CNN discussed what would happen if Trump simply did not move out of the canceled rental apartment in the White House?

Well, the Marines have a force that makes house calls and moves without knocking on the door.

Atlantic: Trump Is the Loser - The president has become the thing he most despises.

“We’re going to win so much that you’re going to be sick and tired,” Donald Trump promised in 2016. Over the next four years, the American people did get sick (nearly 10 million of them so far from COVID-19), and they did get tired, and in the end they decided they’d had enough.

In doing so, they exposed Trump, whose entire career and public persona have been built on an image of constantly winning, as a loser. With Pennsylvania having completed its blue shift into Joe Biden’s column, the election is effectively over, and the president has been defeated. The exact contours of the loss aren’t clear yet, but the ultimate outcome is.

Trump has not admitted it, and probably won’t. There’s no reason to expect a grudging concession from him, much less a gracious one; perhaps the most interesting question is whether he’ll bother to show up for Biden’s inauguration, and how he’ll behave if he does. On Thursday, before Pennsylvania flipped blue, Trump spoke for the first time since early Wednesday morning, delivering an unhinged and baseless statement insisting that the election was being stolen from him. (Many of the TV networks, which are very slowly getting wise to his tricks, quickly cut in or made it clear that the statement was nonsense.) As Biden took the lead in Pennsylvania on Friday, the Trump campaign’s general counsel insisted that the race was still on.

“The false projection of Joe Biden as the winner is based on results in four states that are far from final,” Matt Morgan said. “Biden is relying on these states for his phony claim on the White House, but once the election is final, President Trump will be reelected.”

Some Republicans, who belie their party’s name by putting partisan allegiance over loyalty to the republic, have rallied around Trump, including
  • Senator Lindsey Graham last week donates $500,000 to Trump's legal fund
  • House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy
  • Senator Ted Cruz Trump insulted him, his wife, and his dead father

Surprise!!!

The Washington Post - Trump insists ‘election is far from over,’ vows to press forward with court fights

breaking

Trump insisted Saturday that “this election is far from over” shortly after multiple outlets projected Biden to be the winner of the presidency.

We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: They don’t want the truth to be exposed,” Trump said in a statement issued by his campaign in which he repeated several unfounded claims about widespread fraud having occurred in states where Biden is leading, including Pennsylvania.

The simple fact is this election is far from over,” Trump said. “Joe Biden has not been certified as the winner of any states, let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts, or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor.

Trump said that starting Monday, his campaign would “start prosecuting our case in court to ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated.”

I will not rest until the American people have the honest vote count they deserve and that Democracy demands,” Trump said.
