I don't endorse this article; while internationally Biden will be welcomed, locally in the US nothing much will change as Republican and the judicial branch, including the Supreme Court, will thwart any progress.

Fast Company: Donald Trump is a loser

And thankfully, we’ll also be losing these 16 things as we usher the loser out and welcome Joe Biden as the new president.
  • fascist cruelty of Stephen Miller / child separation policy at the southern border

  • white supremacy whataboutism and both-sides-ing

  • international idea that America is a lost cause

  • denial of climate change

  • conversations about the Mexican wall

  • top-down politicization of the pandemic

  • Trump-dominated news cycle

  • distrust of official government announcements

  • spite / “make liberals cry again.”

  • loyalty to the president as the biggest employment qualification

  • “alternative facts”

  • media is an opposition party only to Donald Trump

  • negative role model

  • Trump’s sense of infallibility

  • Social media platforms will have to treat him as just another public figure and not a head of state.

  • daily gaslighting

The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not.

- Biden

America still has a problem with militarised police, systemic racism, lack of healthcare, distrust in science and economic imbalance

Trump made all this worse.

Feels good to know that a human being is going to be back in charge.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Thank Christ. Now watch as Trump tries every trick in the book to cry "election fraud!"

Of course, the Republican states he won? Oh they're absolutely fine. It's just the ones he lost in that he cares about.

He really comes across as such a sore loser. I hope they throw all his ridiculous, pointless, time-wasting court cases out. The margins are way too large in some states to claim fraud.

Hopefully Joe will go some way (as much as he can) towards sorting it out. I think at the top of his to-do list though is coronavirus. Already the morons over at Breitbart are panicking, with headlines that he's going to make you wear a mask at home. Really? I don't remember Jacinda telling us to do that.

If Biden did nothing in the next 4 years, then the US is the winner. Going nowhere is better than going backwards on many fronts.

Joe will do what he can, they will at least gain some calm nationally and globally.

Hopefully Joe Biden will clean out all the Trumps nepotistic people and reinstate all the government Watchdog/Oversight apparatus.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Joe Biden is gonna have a hard time convincing America that the coronavirus is infact a real problem (and some it's actually real to begin with) but then again he only needs to turn it off at the wall because Trump did say at the start it would miraculously disappear after the elections.

Trump made all this worse.

Unless the Dems can control the Senate his administration can achieve very little. And in that case if he's still alive in 4 years time I doubt he would win a second term so the US will swing back to Republican again with another Trumpian style leader. Back to square one.

I think the one hope is Harris. If she has the personality and drive she could make a difference and be a viable contender in 4 years time.

But nobody, Democrat or Republican can make much difference long term. The problems run generations deep and cannot be fixed. Take the BLM  or the MeToo movements as examples. Huge support and publicity and nothing significant is going to change.

The US is too diverse and is heading for a USSR type breakup.

Doesnt matter. We now have a POTUS who is not a liar, abuser, and troublemaker and causer nationally and globally. Attitude matters, and it starts at the top

Dont see any riots going on, just celebrations everywhere, normality has begun to start.
