SJB:

Unless the Dems can control the Senate his administration can achieve very little. And in that case if he's still alive in 4 years time I doubt he would win a second term so the US will swing back to Republican again with another Trumpian style leader. Back to square one.

There's a chance they can with run-off election in Ga in January.  VP casts a deciding vote, so 50:50 is a majority to the Dems.

Anyway, I don't think it's as dire as suggested unless all Republican senators behave as they did when Trump was POTUS.  There are quite a few Senate seats coming up in 2022 - see how it pans out and how many are continuing to stand by "Trumpism" or whether it will dry up and blow away in the wind like a dog turd in the summer sun.

Trump's getting a majority on Twitter - the majority of Trump's tweets seem to getting the "soft banhammer" for telling lies.  4 in a row here - a record win:

Handle9: The article seemed perfectly reasonable and not really sensationalised.

The NY Post is a rag but this article didn't say much that seemed objectionable.

The only other "source" for this is Breitbart. So I won't give it credit at all.

Did the US just vote out after a single term the greatest President ever (with exception of, maybe, Abraham Lincoln)?

I feel bad for @nathan. He really wants to be part of the discussion and, while I didn’t agree will a lot of his opinions, it’s good for the the discussion to not become too one sided.

I agree with him that Biden probably isn’t the great saviour of America, and if they simply go back to the pre-Trump status quo then this result may only be delaying the inevitable. Don’t get me wrong - Trump and the Republicans absolutely had to go.

As he is an American voter, living in America, I valued his input (even when I disagreed with it).

I think he feels what many Americans feel, that change is needed but neither the Democratic or Republican elites are going to champion it. He may be right - I don’t know.

He didn’t ask me to say any of this, just my thoughts.

Trump was reportedly golfing when the election was called.

I don't feel bad for him at all and I'm very relieved that he was prevented from posting while this was going on. A few of his posts contributed something and were fine, but most were just endless repetitions of the same 'they are all hopelessly corrupt and nothing will make any difference' mantra. He was carpet-bombing the thread and that was ruining it for everyone else (with the possible exception of yourself). He wasn't banned for his opinions, but for the way he was expressing them. Maybe he will be allowed back at some point. I don't know but if he had been posting during the very protracted voting process, I very much doubt the thread would have survived, and that would have been to the detriment of everyone else who follows it.

Apparently, Biden and McConnell get on, work well together. Its possible I guess that devoid of the negative Trump environment, that a GOP House can be part of moving forward.

Or if GOP remain tough and obstructive while Biden remains calm and engaging, GOP may trip themselves up in Georgia on January 5th. People dont like crap, they embrace getting on. Thats why there are celebrations everwhere (that the media hasn't seen for decades),not riots.

@rikkitic I wasn’t wanting to start a discussion about a member who can’t post, as that would be unfair to him. It was just he had been mentioned a few times since being blocked and is presumably still reading the thread so just wanted to post that I at least had valued his input.

We differ in our views, but in fairness to @nathan we should leave it at that.

I just spotted a tweet that people are 'ritualistically stomping on Cheetos' to celebrate the result. For those who don't know, Cheetos are a horrible, addictive American snack food made up of crunchy, cheese-flavoured bites that are covered in orange crumbs that shed everywhere and turn things exactly the colour of Trump's complexion. Anyone who has been eating Cheetos you can immediately spot from the sickly orange glow around their mouth.
