In a state where everyone marries their cousins, it is not surprising that literacy is a challenge.

This is a disgraceful comment. Why on earth would you say such a nasty and untrue thing?

You rail against Trump for his overstepping the lines of decency and then make heinous comments like this?

Sideface:As the dust settles from the 2020 presidential election, one disappointed Mississippi lawmaker has a proposition for the Magnolia State.. Instead of being governed by President-elect Joe Biden, state Rep. Price Wallace (R) reportedly said on Twitter that Mississippi should “succeed” from the rest of the United States and form its own country.

...cause the first time Mississippi seceded from the union worked so well.

Seriously, people from Alabama joke about Mississippi being backwards: "Thank God for Mississippi, because it keeps us from being on the bottom of lists."

The New York Times -
How Georgia’s looming runoffs have altered the political calculations in Washington.

today

A pair of Senate runoffs in Georgia that will determine which party controls the chamber has reordered the political universe in the days since the election, influencing nearly every decision by members of both parties, including the refusal of most Republicans to recognize President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory. ...

The most jarring consequence has been Republicans’ refusal to challenge Mr. Trump’s false claims that he won the election.

Though most leading Republicans have not repeated his claims, they have also declined to acknowledge Mr. Biden’s clear victory, fearing that doing so would enrage the president and his loyal base of supporters ahead of January. ...

With Republicans on track to control 50 Senate seats and Democrats 48, the twin runoffs on Jan. 5 will determine how much power Mr. Biden can wield in a post-Trump Washington. ...

EDIT :

The Washington Post - Election 2020 live updates: Georgia announces hand audit ...

breaking

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced a hand-counted audit of the presidential vote in his state, where President-elect Joe Biden leads by more than 14,000 votes.

The goal is to have the audit completed by Nov. 20, the state deadline for certification.

(The recount will only apply to the presidential election. It will not affect the outcome of the Senate races.)

kingdragonfly: There's a general rule that the following shouldn't attempt jokes
  • Germans
  • robots
  • conservatives

There are more specific exceptions to this though. For example while Germans as a whole shouldn't do humour, specific subgroups like Swabians, Berliners, and Bavarians can do sidesplitting humour.

TikTok says the Trump administration has forgotten about trying to ban it, would like to know what’s up

TikTok has filed a petition in a US Court of Appeals calling for a review of actions by the Trump administration’s Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). The reason, according to the company, is that it hasn’t heard from the committee in weeks about an imminent deadline for parent company ByteDance to sell off US assets over national security concerns.

That's because the Toddler-in-Chief has become distracted by the next flashy thing to come along. Or, in this case, having a flashy thing taken away from him. He'll get back to you once he's finished his sulk, and had a change of nappies.

Whatever you do, don't mention the robot war. I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it.

NEW TRUMP LAWSUIT SEEKS TO OVERTURN OBAMA’S 2008 ELECTION

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In his latest legal action, Donald J. Trump has filed a lawsuit to overturn former President Barack Obama’s election in 2008.

Throwing out Obama’s win seems like a long shot to most legal scholars, who note that the former President won in 2008 by more than nine million votes and racked up three hundred and sixty-five Electoral College votes.

Further complicating Trump’s case is that his lawsuit refers to no tangible evidence of voter fraud in 2008, other than a cryptic statement that “there were a lot of bad things going on.”

Reached at his office at Netflix, Obama seemed amused by the prospect of his 2008 election being overturned. “Donny's never been much of a planner. Wait 'til he finds out I'll be free to run against him in 2024.”

The Washington Post - Opinion - Trump’s election challenge looks like a scam to line his pockets

today

President Trump isn’t really trying to overturn the election. He’s simply running one more scam before he leaves office that would enable him to enrich himself.

That’s the way it appears, at least, from the scores of fundraising emails his campaign has sent out since the election.

He seems to be asking for funds to challenge the election, but the fine print shows that the money could let him line his own coffers.

“They’re trying to STEAL this Election,” declared one such Trump campaign fundraising missive Wednesday afternoon. from “Donald J. Trump, President of the United States.” ...

But at the provided link to the “OFFICIAL ELECTION DEFENSE FUND,” the legalese at the end says something rather different:

Sixty percent of the contribution, up to $5,000, goes to “Save America,” Trump’s newly created leadership PAC.

And 40 percent of the contribution up to $35,500, goes to the Republican National Committee’s operating account, its political (not legal) fund.

Only after reaching the first maximum would a single penny go to Trump’s “Recount Account,” and only after reaching the second maximum would a penny go to the RNC’s legal account.

Once a con-man, always a con-man. Classic "bait and switch"  😠

If everyone of the 75 million people that voted for that clown each donated $5 that's a lot of lawyers fees

End result: Rich Lawyers will just get more rich, and Biden will still be president

Unreal. He lost the election, that's not losing face, it always happens. Being stubborn about it, ok, IF he feels he can reverse the result. BUT he's been out of circulation for 6 days. Turned up today at a memorial looking grumpy. He's  backed himself into a corner, its too late to concede with a speech, he's already clearly a sore loser and a poor loser with no class. If GOP cant get a pair, they are probably as bad as some have sounded off here. He could have accepted the result, I'll be back, etc, learnt from his mistakes and go again in 2024. But as many know, its not really about the US, its about him. In the meantime the other side are busy working for the US re the pandemic, while he sulks. Maybe the GOP need to rebuild, because they appear to be beholden to DT
