If he was to get 70 million viewers though, I'd be stunned. Even Fox News doesn't get that much - not even 10% of that amount.

Before someone post the inevitable "this will cause more divisiveness"
  • politics can't get anymore polarized regarding Trump. Proof: "lock him/her up" for any Trump opponent. Not prosecuting Trump won't improve that.

  • If a conman is looking to get rich through corruption, they had better be prepared for jail time

New York Times: As Soon as Trump Leaves Office, He Faces Greater Risk of Prosecution

The president is more vulnerable than ever to an investigation into his business practices and taxes.

President Trump lost more than an election last week. When he leaves the White House in January, he will also lose the constitutional protection from prosecution afforded to a sitting president.

After Jan. 20 [he] will be more vulnerable than ever to a pending grand jury investigation by the Manhattan district attorney into the president’s family business and its practices, as well as his taxes.

The two-year inquiry, the only known active criminal investigation of Mr. Trump, has been stalled since last fall, when the president sued to block a subpoena for his tax returns and other records, a bitter dispute that for the second time is before the U.S. Supreme Court. A ruling is expected soon.

...The district attorney’s investigation of a sitting president has taken on even greater significance because Mr. Trump’s past use of his presidential power — pardoning those close to him charged with federal crimes — suggests he will make liberal use of the pardon pen on behalf of associates, family members and possibly even himself, as he claimed he has the right to do.

But his pardon power does not extend to state crimes

...Lawyers acknowledged during the court fight over the subpoena that the Constitution bars them from prosecuting a president while in office, but the district attorney has said nothing about what might happen once Mr. Trump leaves the White House.

...Mr. Trump will leave the White House amid calls for him to face criminal charges and a drumbeat of strident criticism from the left that he has evaded any legal consequences for his conduct over the years.

The New York district attorney was sharply criticized for his 2012 decision not to seek an indictment against Mr. Trump’s children, Ivanka Trump and Donald J. Trump Jr., after they were accused of misleading investors in a condo-hotel project.

...Some legal experts said it would send the wrong message if Mr. Vance had evidence to justify charges but decided to walk away from a prosecution of Mr. Trump.

Because everyone knows that Trump's core demographic, the over 65 year olds, embraces digital media ;)

For Netflix American, 65% under the age of 29 compared to only 41% of those aged 65 or above

Axios: Trump eyes digital media empire to take on Fox News

President Trump has told friends he wants to start a digital media company to clobber Fox News and undermine the conservative-friendly network, sources tell Axios.

The state of play: Some Trump advisers think Fox News made a mistake with an early call (seconded by AP) of President-elect Biden's win in Arizona. That enraged Trump, and gave him something tangible to use in his attacks on the network.
  • "He plans to wreck Fox. No doubt about it," said a source with detailed knowledge of Trump's intentions.
...Here's Trump's plan, according to the source:
  • There's been lots of speculation about Trump starting a cable channel. But getting carried on cable systems would be expensive and time-consuming.

  • Instead, Trump is considering a digital media channel that would stream online, which would be cheaper and quicker to start.

  • Trump's digital offering would likely charge a monthly fee to MAGA fans. Many are Fox News viewers, and he'd aim to replace the network — and the $5.99-a-month Fox Nation streaming service...

It would be like Breitbart with pictures. And secure a tiny, fringe following of nutjobs just like Breitbart.

And if he thinks he can take on and beat Murdoch he's delusional.

Trumpists have a similar problem with Twitter (and Twitter has a problem with Trump).  Twitter won't ban him because of the $$$ he brings them, and he's not going to abandon Twitter because the alternatives are echo-chambers where he'd be preaching only to the converted.  They lose effect as propaganda tools because obvious propaganda doesn't work.

Fox news hasn't had some kind of epiphany and changed sides by calling the election early, they're just doing what they need to do, continuing to back a loser would have them labelled as lunatic fringe, they're playing the long game to crush liberals / get rid of Democrats in 2024, they need credibility to convert Democrat viewers to achieve that.  Trump's ego doesn't tolerate any criticism - some light-hearted criticism presents an illusion of "balance".  "Trump news" will fail.

Mary Trump seems to think that Trump won't run in 2024 because he's scared of being rejected.  She's expressing "qualified opinion".

Murdoch have a potential problem in Aus, Kevin Rudd's petition for an enquiry into media ownership got record signatures and has been tabled, the claim that Murdoch controls 70% of the media in Aus is debatable (depends how you measure it) but there's no doubt they have a dominant position and the same strong anti-liberal bias as seen in the US, which pervades through "respectable" publications like The Australian, as well as gutter tabloids, TV "Sky news Australia" etc.

NATION CELEBRATES FULL WEEK OF TRUMP NOT TALKING

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (The Borowitz Report)—The United States is celebrating a full week of Donald J. Trump not talking. From coast to coast, American citizens are savoring their freedom from Trump’s utterances for the first time since 2015.

“As much as I wanted Trump to lose, I had no idea that losing would make him stop talking,” Carol Foyler, who lives in Pittsburgh, said. “I feel like I’ve won the lottery.”

Tracy Klugian, who lives in Minneapolis, was more guarded in her ecstasy. “I want to celebrate Trump not talking, but I guess I’m afraid to,” she said. “He’s been quiet for a week, and I don’t want to do anything to jinx that.”

But Harland Dorrinson, a resident of St. Louis, felt that an occasion as momentous as Trump being silent for a week “must be honored.”

“I believe that we’re living through an important moment in history,” he said. “Someday, people will ask, ‘Where were you when Donald Trump shut up?’ ”

"It goes from bad to worse for the Trump legal team"

Over the past two days, two prominent law firms have sought to withdraw from representing the Trump legal effort in both Arizona and Pennsylvania. And Friday, the campaign was forced to reverse course in an Arizona case, acknowledging that the lawsuit, even if successful, wouldn’t overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s lead in the state.

Those high-profile developments come even as yet more of Trump’s arguments fizzle in court.

In Arizona on Thursday, Trump lawyer Kory Langhofer conceded that he was “not alleging fraud” or “that anyone is stealing the election” — in direct contradiction to Trump’s repeated public claims that this was indeed what has happened in multiple states. Langhofer said the Trump legal team was simply raising concerns about a “limited number of cases” involving “good faith errors.”

It was not the first time that Trump’s lawyers have declined to allege fraud in nearly the same way Trump personally has, with the same thing happening earlier this week in Pennsylvania.

Similarly, witnesses for the Trump side in the Arizona case acknowledged something else that previous cases have revealed: that they weren’t even sure the irregularities being alleged were true.

As reported by Law and Crime’s Adam Klasfeld (who has done yeoman’s work on these cases), Trump’s lawyers tried to object to their witnesses being cross-examined, and it turned out they did so for good reason.

Trump's main talents in litigation are:

a) threatening to sue
b) suing to waste people's time and money so they cave in

actually winning is not one of his talents. Trump 100% predictably lost a suit against CNN just this week.
