So his plan to tackle coronavirus before he leaves is to do...nothing? Yep, that's "winning" right there. Meanwhile daily cases climb, and death rates climb as well. All in the supposed "greatest country in the world".

I might need a little help here.
Some guy on FB (who I don't know overly well but we have some mutual friends in common) is really sad Trump lost. He says "Joe Biden has done nothing in 47 years" in Government, and directed me to here when I asked him what Trump had done in 4:

https://www.whitehouse.gov/trump-administration-accomplishments/?fbclid=IwAR28dSn0DBLU5vgTCkGWWdvYH6zV123ksqJUQLEVgDqb67On1lSBGB9o29Y

He constantly harps on about how many jobs Trump has created for America as well. Obviously Trump wrote this list himself, and it's over 2 years old - but is all the stuff on that page accurate? I like Joe Biden, but must confess I don't know much about what he's done - if someone can point me to a similar list that would be awesome :D

Has Trump really done everything in that list there, or is that all just him doing more grandstanding? It's a fairly long list.

Of course he's done some stuff. 4 years x 365 days x 24 hrs is a lot of time to do stuff. If it's create jobs and prop up sharemarket that's him. Also did a lot of conservative things and dictator-level stuff.

I don't have time to check each one but most of them are things that happen naturally, some indeed his brainchild.

There are also other stuff he's done like lie, promote lies, encourage lying, incite violence, engage in open bitching/slander, popularise white supremacy, create division, and especially good at claiming credit for other people's hard work.

Probably sacked more people than the list of things he's supposedly done himself. Last week it also said he ended the pandemic.

There are also plenty of stuff he says he's done that didn't do and hasn't done that are not on the list.

America is like a huge oil tanker. It has a lot of inertia and is slow to respond to steering changes. A lot of policy is also on automatic pilot. There are many, many departments in government bureaucracy and they will keep chugging along regardless of who is at the top. Without bothering to go through the whole list, I think it can be safely assumed that a lot of the things Trump takes credit for would have happened anyway.

One thing he did do was stimulate the economy with a tax cut. This is like a sugar high. This and other policies have short-term benefit for long-term cost. If you sell your house you can go on holiday with the money, but when you get back, you will no longer have a house to live in.

You can also mortgage your future in other ways. Getting rid of environmental protections may boost coal exports, but the true cost will be born by the next generation. Trump is a selfish, self-centered, short-sighted prick. He is like a two year-old in more ways than one. He has a short and limited attention span. He is focused on immediate gratification. He has no vision and no sense of the long term.

Apart from any other consideration, Trump is a pathological liar. He is known to take credit for the accomplishments of others. I would not take anything on his list all that seriously.

Batman's "the Penguin

Roger Stone:
  • convicted felon
  • pardoned by Trump
  • self described "dirty trickster"
  • Cartoon villain
Roger Stone correctly deduced that he is untouchable, because he has powerful Republican friends, and free to wreak havoc on democracy to help the same.

SPLC: Far Right Resurrects Roger Stone’s #StopTheSteal During Vote Count

Supporters of President Trump are promoting the Twitter hashtag #StopTheSteal to advocate that contested battleground states stop counting outstanding votes cast during the 2020 presidential election.

Far-right extremists, including former Trump adviser and convicted felon Roger Stone, first popularized the phrase, which dates back to the 2016 election and serves primarily to dispute Democratic votes in urban, multiracial areas. On Thursday, the hashtag appeared to be gaining traction again, sometimes being shared dozens of times within the span of a minute, Hatewatch calculated. Additionally, a Facebook group formed on Wednesday called Stop the Steal 2020 gained over 300,000 members within the span of a day before the social media company removed it.

...Far-right activists promoted similar “Stop the Steal” events Wednesday and Thursday... The right wing Tea Party Patriots, as well as the anti-Muslim hate group ACT for America, have also involved themselves

...Stone associate and One America News Network correspondent Jack Posobiec has also promoted the hashtag #StopTheSteal... [He] has accrued over one million Twitter followers [and] is connected to white nationalists and neo-Nazis.

Ali Alexander (formerly Ali Akbar), another Stone associate with a history of publishing far-right propaganda, has also repeatedly promoted the #StopTheSteal hashtag to Twitter. On Wednesday, Alexander also promoted a website to help guide Trump supporters to so-called Stop the Steal protest events in different cities. In the runup to the 2020 election, Alexander used Twitter to promote a false story that Joe Biden is suffering from a debilitating disease that he hides from the public.

..Michelle Malkin, an anti-immigrant pundit who contributes to the white nationalist publication VDARE, used #StoptheSteal on Twitter Wednesday night. Faith Goldy, a Canadian woman with over 100,000 followers on Twitter, changed her display name to “TRUMP WON – STOP THE STEAL” in the aftermath of the election. Goldy has appeared on neo-Nazi podcasts and espoused white supremacist views.

...More mainstream pundits, including Eric Trump, one of the president’s sons and most prominent campaign surrogates, also picked up the hashtag on Thursday morning.

An extract from a recent Washington Post opinion piece:

Most Republicans humor Trump, like he is some demented uncle who insists the mailman is stealing his lottery winnings.

Only the president’s delusion has real-world consequences that include eroding the legitimacy of a democratic election.

As for covid-19, gently suggesting that maybe this year people could Thanksgiving at home calls forth the white-hot fury of a thousand suns. ...

It's hard to understand how anyone can maintain the belief that Fox is not a mainstream media. Yet people do, and even some Fox hosts go on about 'the mainstream media'. Fox News is consistently the highest rating news channel!

Fox News is not so popular with hard core trump supporters at the moment because it recognised the election result.

Perhaps your Facebook friend will be a ready customer for the rumored Trump News 24/7 channel at $5.95 per month for all the Trump you can handle.

Apart from that, the 47 year statement is a direct quote of Trump. Why assume something is true just because Trump says it is? Nearly everything he says that gets checked actually turns out to be untrue. In fact, Biden has achieved a great deal during his time in politics. If he had not, he would not still be in politics. Every election he has ever won has not been for nothing. People voted for him for a reason.

Any list of accomplishments will always be debatable because the details can always be argued over. But here is one anyway just for the fun of it. I would put Biden up against Trump any day. So do 75 million voters.

While in the Senate & House, Joe Biden passed 167 pieces of legislation which you can view here:

Cosponsored the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act, providing life-saving treatment and care to low-income, poor, and uninsured people living with HIV

Sponsored reauthorization of the Global AIDS program (PEPFAR), which significantly expanded the funding and targets for treatment, care, and prevention of HIV/AIDS and repealed statutory ban on visas for people who were HIV-positive

I have to say - I believe if you have a democracy the voters get to choose, assuming the facts laid out are fair. and everybody should have a fair go in principle. Those who choose conservative in principal are no worse or better than those who choose progressive. Democract in principle is no better or worse than Republican - they're all the same.

the rot from both sides seem to start at the top -

Nancy Pelosi is one that gets me SMH every day - she is like the Fox News host of the democrats

Anyway, when people were announcing lockdowns and asking americans to cancel thanksgiving she was busy planning a lavish democrat thanksgiving gala! (which has since been cancelled after being hammered on social media)
