NATO is defensive, not an offensive alliance. They are positioned to work in the North Atlantic, Europe and North Africa. They did help the USA after September 11, the only time a country invoked Article 5.

Its unfortunate that something that should be encouraging "make America Great Again" has been weaponised and is now a massive negative. We should be striving to make "insert country name here" great again, by encouraging growth, aspirations and opportunities across all sectors of society.
