I feel the 2020 result will be very entertaining for want of a better term. I believe that NZ First, Act and Ross will be out of Parliament leaving only Labour, National and NZ Green unless a fourth contender comes out of the blue and preforms a miracle.

Mahon:

I was led to believe that this is why Labour went with Winston and National did not, during the coalition talks. From what I have been told, National flatly refused some of Winstons demands. Jacinda on the other hand wanted to dance with the devil.

In at any cost I would say

Serious question. Labour/Greens and National poll under 50%, NZF is Kingmaker, Labour/Greens and National decline him, what then? Highest seats wins a minority Government, and Lab and Nats agree on confidence and supply?

I believe National would form a coalition with NZF and Greens, but it would NOT be at any cost.

I cannot see the NZ Green party going into coalition with National, they should as it would mean that they are a full partner and not a confidence partner, but  sadly they wont.

Greens? Teal? What the Greens want to save, the Nat's don't. My question was, IF no one wants to go with NZF. So, you say Nats will go with the Greens. Greens would want a LOT of stuff. If they got off their high horse about saving everything, be a Green party not a Political Green party, they could achieve a lot. We cant explore more oil and gas now. We need oil and gas. When we don't need it,don't explore for it then. We cant add a big hydro scheme (to help save the world and be green)  as native plants will be cleared away.

Under the current (lack of) leadership of the Greens, they won't. It would take a much stronger leader to convince the hard left inside the Greens that they could achieve a lot with a coalition with National. Considerably more than they did with the current arrangement.

Any of them will jump into bed with each other if it means forming and be part of a government. Personally I think it will be some form of National slash somebody else. Not sure if Bridges will be the leader though.

Would love to see nz first out but that is just my opinion.

Achieve what with National ?

Emissions trading applied to farmers ?

Which is where Wind power, solar power, micro hydro power, reverse pumped hydro storage, Battery Storage, energy efficiency , etc etc all come into play.

It does not need to be fossil fuel based, nor does it need to be a massive hydro scheme.

Bridges is there to be the sacrifice when they loose the next election, this is why no one National wants that job because they do not want "Fail" on their resume next year.

Bridges only "idea" is to do the opposite of Jacinda.

He will either resign, or go back into a dark corner and be irrelevant next year.

One day. All of those things. Wind has yet to go big, or even medium. Its rare like a steak. Solar is uneconomical for most homes. Id love it, but its not worth it by a long margin . Battery storage is worse.

One or two Hydros would be a boost to us. Wind can be but its not happening . Great ideas but like many things Climate Change related, its a lot of talk and little action

I feel it will be before, 6 months before, Judith Collins. Tough, no nonsense, what is needed. Or the Police guy, Mark Marshall from memory. Clean, no baggage. No brand name finance guy is an issue.

I long for a new centre left party to replace both National and Labour. They are both stale, stagnant virtually the same except for their logos.

There are many wind generating plants happening. One just has to fly over Wellington, Wairarapa and Manawatu to see some large examples
