Paul1977:

Surely at this point Trump has committed multiple easily verifiable instances of election interference? A president telling electors they could go to prison for casting their vote against him his just one example. Is this not a crime?

EDIT: I had been more on the side of not prosecuting Trump in an effort to not further divide the nation; but I've changed my mind after 5 weeks of him blatantly attempting to undermine the fundamentals of democracy and and staging a coup through lies and intimidation.

He can say almost anything. 1st amendment and all that.

I guess I missed the coup. When did the revolutionaries come in?

How to punish Trump?

Two articles in the 12 December issue of The Washington Post feature the same firebrand Democrat:

Can Trump’s lawyers get in trouble for frivolous lawsuits?

Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (Democrat N.J.), has filed complaints in five states seeking to strip Trump lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani and 22 lawyers affiliated with Trump’s effort of their law licenses. Pascrell has accused the lawyers of frivolous lawsuits and “conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation.”

and ...

Pelosi accuses Republicans of ‘subverting the Constitution’ ...

Democrat, Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. of New Jersey, went so far as to call on Pelosi to refuse to seat any member who signed the filing backing the Texas suit.

Stated simply, men and women who would act to tear the United States government apart cannot serve as members of the Congress,” he wrote in a letter to Pelosi, calling the lawsuits challenging the election attacks on “the text and spirit of the Constitution, which each Member swears to support and defend.”

Pascrell’s legal basis for this request is Section Three of the 14th Amendment, often referred to as “The Disqualification Clause”:

No Person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.

On alt-right sites, the fascists and morons are having a complete an utter meltdown.  Hope not - but I suspect it might get ugly.  Problem is you can't tell if it's just a few loud stupid morons, or thousands of them.  They're being told by some of their own to pull their heads in, but it's making them angrier.

Remarkably, one site (popular with the lying loser) has a headline condemning Biden for not "extending the hand of friendship" to his defeated rival.

Doesn't the loser usually call the winner to offer his congratulations? Or is it the other way around?

Yep.  And Trump isn't going to because he's a narcissistic doofus with the emotional intellect of a spoiled toddler.

I hope they all blow their tops, literally. Most seem pretty overweight and stuffed with red meat. With a little luck maybe there will be a wave of strokes, aneurysms, heart attacks, and apoplexy, not to mention Covid 19 since them good old no sex boys are too stoopid to wear masks and keep a distance.

Pascrell has zero chance of success. The action is almost as bad as the Trump actions. I fail to see the point of it.

Michigan Republican member of Congress Paul Mitchell changes party designation to Independent.

https://twitter.com/RepPaulMitchell/status/1338599898141356034?s=20

Mitchell says he is not standing again when his term is up. Says Trump lost Michigan because republican voters in Michigan rejected Trump, not fraud. This could set the stage for a belated republican Trump rejection after the handover. At least for those states where Trump lost convincingly.

I didn't realize Trump was 1 for 59 lawsuits against the election.

The Election Is Finally Over: SCOTUS Rejects GOP Suit, Biden's Win Certified By Electoral College

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Today the Electoral College certified Joe Biden as America's president-elect, bringing the long and contentious presidential election to an official end. But many, including Stephen Colbert, wonder what should become of the 126 Republican members of Congress who backed an outrageous lawsuit seeking to invalidate the votes from four swing states.

I just read that electoral college is not the end.

Electoral college votes that have been cast will need to be counted and certified by Congress on Jan 6.

When Congress has certified, VP Pence declares Biden as the next President.

I smell something... It's not a steak well done.

The alt-right networks are still not coping with Dear Leader's loss, but it sounds like they're coming around, albeit slowly.

You've been saying this sort of stuff the whole way through and it's all played out in line with the law. Why on earth would this be any different?

...because Trump.

59 lawsuits trying to overturn a democracy's election results is different. Trump is not going to go quietly into the night.

Lastly Trump pardoned self-proclaimed dirty trickster Roger Stone.
