The parties are what they are. My criticisms are aimed at the system.

Someone is doing a number on the Light Rail project. This is the third day in a row where there's been a substantive leak, and it's repeatedly things that challenge the credibility of Light Rail - i.e. the dumbest possible plans under consideration.
Of course, NZTA can't respond because it has a challenging bid on the table.

I have used rail systems in a number of cities/countries and they have been excellent.
Getting thousands of people out of cars and onto rail removes thousands of cars off the roads and makes the roads more useable for those who need to drive. Its a win win situation.

"Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says that the NZ Transport Agency dropped the ball over Auckland's light rail plans and caused the current delay.
And it appears that the two city-to-airport proposals currently being considered are now light rail versus heavy rail, though Ardern would not be drawn on any details, saying they are commercially sensitive."
So for all their campaign promises, all their "We're going to do it and have the first bit done by 2020", we're now back to the same debate we were having four years ago.
She should resign.
I would rather they took the time to get it right.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

No she shouldn't. That doesn't solve anything.

Her campaign promise, her electorate, her cabinet, her minister.

Peter Dunn said asking for a MP to resign was done when you actually had nothing else to say, it just sounds dramatic .

If you are advocating her resignation, and you are not just spouting reactionary hot air and you want to be taken seriously, then you have to say what you think her resignation would accomplish. What would be the consequences of it, and how would it affect the country? I personally think it is a stupid thing to say, but of course I am a fan of Jacinda Ardern and I still think this government is preferable to one led by National at this time.

This is effectively a cabinet scandal. She won't demand resignations from ministers. So...what's the consequences for total, abject policy and governance failure? She is unusually tied to this, as it was the first promise of her leadership, runs through her electorate and she gave a firm commitment to when it would happen.
I am actually a fan of Jacinda, on the two times I have met her she has been great to talk to. I very much wanted her to succeed and if she had delivered half of what she had promised, she would have been a god-send for the type of voter National just would rather didn't exist. It just isn't working out that way. It's one thing after another, and showing little sign of changing. She has a pretty shallow talent pool at her disposal, but at some point you have to stop falling back on excuses and get on the front foot. That's what leadership is.
Maybe a resignation is over the top. But I'm just over it. I can't be excited about the future of the country or this city anymore. We're not going to go anywhere. There doesn't seem much point in staying.

Its time she started being accountable. She isnt some puppet, she is our PM and its time she realised that. Either she needs to step down or start making her Ministers accountable for their actions or lack of action.
It was a fail to say they can accomplish all these issues, then find that's its too hard or too long. That's the way it is, we arent any further behind as this country wasnt going anywhere in a hurry anyway. Nats doesnt want LR, and the LR plan is dependent on the other stakeholders deciding whats best for AKL. The Govt OR NZTA or AC could have taken full control done a quick review and gone ahead. That would fail. Transport isnt about one route its about people, development, buses, cars, all of these factors how they play out over 30 years+, and have to be known so that transport can be designed around that, otherwise you build for 10 years and then have another issue or development went another direction. No wonder Nats went cold, its a difficult fix, as you dont know what AKL will be like in 10, 20, 30 years.
In the election Nats will have their policy, so choose then perhaps.

They ARE accountable, every election.
If people were fired or forced to quit every time something does not happen exactly as planned then we would have very few people employed.
Which failure was better ?
National - there is no housing crisis
Labour - Kiwi build has not met promises.

I think it was to begin building Light Rail for AKL in 2020. Maybe 2019, unsure
