What colours are hope and forgiveness? I would much prefer to see Americans marching together towards the light, as in the light of enlightenment.

The colour should be black.
Apart from the historical irony they are marching together towards the black hole of history.
gzt: America doesn't need a new flag right now. If it did - I'd choose something representing the best ideals of America. In Roddenberry blue..
An interesting thought.
Except America isn't united, and probably won't be for many years to come.
Should a flag depict the current state of a nation? Or simply represent an ideal?
If the latter, the face of Old Glory hasn't helped America achieve unity.
Trump crowned? No faux King way!
Still deluded ...
The Washington Post - Trump’s legal team exited after he insisted impeachment defense focus on false claims of election fraud
today
The implosion of former president Donald Trump’s legal team comes as Trump remains fixated on arguing at his second impeachment trial that the 2020 election was stolen from him, a defense that advisers warn is ill-conceived and Republican strategists fear will fuel the growing divide in the GOP. ...
Two people familiar with the discussions preceding the departure of the legal team said that Trump wanted them to make the case during the trial that he actually won the election. ...
... and he's not going to change his tiny little mind.

The New York Times - 77 Days: Trump’s Campaign to Subvert the Election
Hours after the United States voted, the president declared the election a fraud - a lie that unleashed a movement that would shatter democratic norms and upend the peaceful transfer of power.

The New York Times - As Trump Raked In Cash Denying His Loss, Little Went to Actual Legal Fight
today
Former President Donald J. Trump and the Republican Party entered this year having stockpiled more than $175 million from fund-raising in November and December based on his false claims of voter fraud, spending only a tiny fraction on lawyers and bills for his effort to overturn the presidential election, according to new campaign finance reports filed on Sunday night.
The picture that emerges in the new Federal Election Commission reports is of Mr. Trump mounting a furious public relations effort to spread the lie and keep generating money from it, rather than making a sustained legal push to try to support his conspiracy theories.
His campaign’s single biggest expense in December was a nearly $5 million for his television advertisements.
His second-largest payment, $4.4 million, was for online advertising. ...
All told, Mr. Trump’s campaign spent only $10 million on legal costs ...
No surprises there ... 😕

ALM BEACH (The Borowitz Report)—Donald J. Trump will act as his own defense attorney at his impeachment trial after receiving a law degree from Trump University.
Trump bestowed the degree upon himself in his capacity as the dean of the Trump University School of Law, where he graduated first in his class.

The Washington Post - Opinion: How Trump is forcing Republicans to debase themselves one more time
today
Donald Trump had acquittal in his second impeachment trial all teed up.
If there was any doubt that the necessary 17 Republican senators would never convict the former president, it was dispelled when 45 of 50 voted to essentially declare the entire proceeding unconstitutional.
But Trump couldn’t just take the win.
He’s determined to use the trial as one more forum to air his absurd lie about how the 2020 election was stolen from him - the lie he used to drive his violent supporters to rampage through the Capitol, the very thing that has him on trial in the first place.
Which means those Republican senators will once again have to publicly help him continue spreading that lie, with all the damaging ramifications that flow from that. ...

Forbes: White House reviewing whether to revoke Trump’s access to intelligence briefings
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirmed Monday that the Biden Administration is weighing whether to strip former President Donald Trump of his access to intelligence briefings—a luxury typically granted to former presidents—after some outside officials expressed concern that Trump will exploit the information and use it to his personal advantage.
Of course he'd use it to his personal advantage. But even if it weren't Trump, I don't see why a former president should be getting intelligence briefings anyway.
