Labour bringing out another law that does nothing to stop what it sets out to do, and i mean the ban on foreign political donations of over $50. What a waste of time when you are still allowed to make anonymous donations up to $1500.

I believe that ALL donations should be recorded so we KNOW who is trying to influence government/MPs.

This concerns the Coalition and the Opposition. These two are just embarrassing for New Zealand. When will Jacinda Ardern take the Deputy PM off Winston Peters. The Deputy PM should not be using ageist crap in the debate chamber.

I don't view being called geriatric as ageist, especially if the target is elderly. It is merely a descriptive label, like 'old person'.

'Dysfunctional' can certainly be an insult, but it has nothing to do with age. Calling someone a rat is far worse in my opinion.

the term geriatric was used in a derogatory way and thus is clearly ageist and has no place in our Parliament. There is an alarming rise in ageism in New Zealand and if it is tolerated in our "leaders" we as a society is in trouble. This is utterly disgusting behavior.

Generally agree but I do blame the media for reporting this drivel.

I am sure a lot worse get's said in the chamber on a daily basis.

Pre school classes probably act better.

Guyon Espiner strongly suggested there is more to come on this on RNZ yesterday. This isn't going to go away.

Seems the so called "foundation" isnt what it seems either. Whilst modeled on Nationals, they operate quite differently. Not going to be a good few months for NZ First. Plus of course the $1M(taxpayer funded) Winston spent in court chasing nothing.

If these continual dodgy practices, keep them under 5%, I'm all for that, keeps things simpler

The Labour MPs on the committee have blocked this from happening.

Where does it say that? I would be interested to know more.

So far all I can find about it is a National Party press release, which is obviously going to be one side of the story.

https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PA1912/S00052/labour-covering-nz-firsts-shady-dealings.htm

The real next step in the NZ First saga will be what Guyon Espiner has, so RNZ could be worth a listen to during Checkpoint.

Worth also pointing out that there have been no comments from the Committee itself, just the National MPs on it - and as such there's no mention of any possible advice they may have received or whether they just aren't even the right committee to hear that matter. I tend to trust press releases from political parties about as much as one should trust a fart.
