Newsweek: GOP Removes Page Praising Donald Trump's 'Historic' Peace Deal With Taliban

The Republican National Committee has removed a webpage from 2020 in which it praised Donald Trump for signing a "historic peace agreement with the Taliban."

David Weigel, of The Washington Post, was the first to spot that the page had been removed with the web address redirecting to a 404 error page featuring the quip: "It looks like you're as lost as Biden is."

The Guardian's congressional reporter Hugo Lowell later confirmed the webpage's removal after successfully tracking down the now-deleted page via The Wayback Machine digital archive.

Featured as part of a section titled "President Trump Is Bringing Peace In The Middle East," the page described how the former U.S. president had "continued to take the lead in peace talks."

The page also claims that "while President Trump has championed peace, Joe Biden has taken the lead in pushing for endless wars."

It's also notable that the now-deleted webpage claimed Trump had "taken action to defeat ISIS and eliminate dangerous leaders."

Abdul Ghani Baradar, the co-founder of the Taliban in Afghanistan and the organization's current political chief, was released from a Pakistani jail at the request of the US while Trump was in office.

Trump Sneaks Back On Twitter By Disguising Self As Taliban Spokesperson

U.S.—Trump has been allowed back on Twitter after disguising himself as one Donhammed Trumpistan, a newly hired spokesperson for the Taliban. As Trump had previously been banned from the service, then allowed back on after disguising himself as a spokesperson for the Chinese Communist Party, then banned again once he couldn't help himself and started claiming the election was stolen again, this is simply his latest ploy to get back on social media.

"Allah be praised. Allah is pretty great, maybe the best ever. Everyone says so," 'Trumpistan' wrote on Twitter as his first post. "That Joe Biden is really screwing things up over here. What a sad, pathetic loser! Oh man, they're making me do the prayer thing now. Why do I need to pray? Very humiliating! Not good!"

Donald Trump was due to stage a rally in Alabama on Saturday night, in a city that has declared a Covid emergency and in support of a congressman who both backed Trump’s attempt to overturn the election and this week sympathised with a man who threatened to blow up the US Capitol.

Newsweek: Top Pennsylvania Senate Republican Pushes for New Election Audit After Trump Pressure

The GOP leader of the Pennsylvania state Senate tweeted ... "After many weeks of work behind the scenes, we are now moving forward to conduct a forensic review of recent elections. I am confident that we have the right team in place to make it happen"

...The top Pennsylvania Republican ... had previously appeared noncommittal to moving forward with a review of the 2020 results and avoided discussing the issue in public, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. However, earlier this month he had told local channel ABC 23 that GOP lawmakers were "trying to provide oversight that everyone is comfortable with the election process moving forward."

Back in mid-June, Trump issued a statement rebuking Corman for not pushing forward with an election audit.

"Why is State Senator Jake Corman of Pennsylvania fighting so hard that there not be a Forensic Audit of the 2020 Presidential Election Scam? Corman is fighting as though he were a Radical Left Democrat, saying that a Forensic Audit of Pennsylvania not take place," the former president said at the time.

Even after Corman announced Friday that the investigation would move forward, a spokesperson for Trump criticized the Republican lawmaker.

"Why do RINOs [Republicans in name only] always prefer to work 'behind the scenes'? We want a transparent audit led by Mastriano! Not a con job by Corman who already has lied, stone walled the audit, and is now smearing @dougmastriano, who without, the audit would not be possible!" Trump's spokesperson Liz Harrington tweeted.
