How about 'core loser'?

I'm certain that DJT was told he was a loser, so often and from such an early age, that, subconsciously he believes this to be true. Ergo, he cannot allow himself to succeed.

Also, he only rails half-heartedly at his detractors, because, deep down, he agrees with them. 'You must hate Trump!' he told Barr, almost conversationally.

However, when he's in front of a mob of screaming, raving fans, the approval volume is at such a level that it overcomes his self doubts and he soaks up the adoration like a sunflower.

Stephanie Grisham was former Trump White House press secretary best known for never holding a press briefing.

Her book "I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw in the Trump White House" was announced last week

One unnamed former White House aide telling Axios: “There isn’t enough water on earth to contain the fire she could set to all of Trumpworld, including parts like the first lady’s orbit.

“It’s hard to articulate how much anxiety this is going to cause.”

Politico: Grisham dishes on Melania

...At 1:25 p.m. on Jan. 6, soon after rioters had broken through barricades outside of the Capitol, MELANIA TRUMP received a text message from her then-chief of staff, STEPHANIE GRISHAM.

“Do you want to tweet that peaceful protests are the right of every American, but there is no place for lawlessness and violence?” Grisham asked the first lady.

A minute later, Melania replied with a one-word answer: “No.”

TRUMP CLAIMS VICTORY IN GERMAN ELECTION

PALM BEACH (The Borowitz Report)—Urging the German people to “stop the steal,” Donald J. Trump announced that he was elected Chancellor of Germany over the weekend.

He said that, once the official vote tallies have been recounted by Cyber Ninjas, it will be clear that he won the German election by a “landslide.”

Reflecting on his win, Trump said, “I’ve always wanted to be Chancellor of Germany. This title has been held by some very fine people.”

He revealed that he planned to send Rudy Giuliani and Justice Brett Kavanaugh to Germany to contest the election results. “Rudy hasn’t been disbarred there yet,” Trump said.

For his part, Kavanaugh relished the chance to carry out a mission on his benefactor's behalf. “I can’t wait to get to Germany,” he said. “When does Oktoberfest start?”

From today's NYT:

Red Covid: Covid’s partisan pattern is growing more extreme.

Since Delta began circulating widely in the U.S., Covid has exacted a horrific death toll on red America: In counties where Donald Trump received at least 70 percent of the vote, the virus has killed about 47 out of every 100,000 people since the end of June [...]. In counties where Trump won less than 32 percent of the vote, the number is about 10 out of 100,000. And the gap will probably keep growing.

Just finished reading Peril. Holy crap, Trump behaved like The Incredible Sulk when he lost. He burned a lot of bridges with how he treated people (especially Michael Pence).

He was actually (initially) going to concede, but then the crazies (Rudy, the My Pillow clown and Sidney I-think-I-have-a-case) took over and he started with the whole election fraud and "it was stolen" bs.

The Conversation: 21 million Americans say Biden is ‘illegitimate’ and Trump should be restored by violence, survey finds

...We have found that 47 million American adults – nearly 1 in 5 – agree with the statement that “the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump and Joe Biden is an illegitimate president.” Of those, 21 million also agree that “use of force is justified to restore Donald J. Trump to the presidency.”

Our survey found that many of these 21 million people with insurrectionist sentiments have the capacity for violent mobilization. At least 7 million of them already own a gun, and at least 3 million have served in the U.S. military and so have lethal skills. Of those 21 million, 6 million said they supported right-wing militias and extremist groups, and 1 million said they are themselves or personally know a member of such a group, including the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper: Think tank: Trump faces ‘substantial’ legal risk in Georgia case

Ahead of former President Donald Trump’s return to Georgia, legal experts with the Brookings Institution think tank published a detailed analysis Friday of the potential criminal investigation he faces in Fulton County linked to his outspoken efforts to overturn the state’s election results.

The 107-page report, written by seven legal analysts, concludes that Trump’s post-election conduct leaves him at “substantial risk of possible state charges predicated on multiple crimes.” It was published a day before Trump is set to hold a rally in Perry to promote a slate of state Republican candidates.

Much of the report centers on the Jan. 2 phone call between Trump and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger first reported by The Washington Post and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. During that call, Trump badgered the GOP elections official to “find” enough votes to reverse his narrow defeat.

But it also outlines a host of other potential criminal infractions surrounding his push to invalidate the election, including direct calls to Gov. Brian Kemp and state Attorney General Chris Carr, and efforts by his attorney Rudy Giuliani to lobby state legislators to take extraordinary action.

Overall, the report said, the charges could include criminal solicitation to commit election fraud, intentional interference with performance of election duties, conspiracy to commit election fraud, racketeering and violations of more than a dozen other state statutes.

The Washington Post - As Trump hints at 2024 comeback, democracy advocates fear a ‘worst-case scenario’ for the country

today

In recent weeks, Trump has maneuvered to firmly establish himself as the predominant and most powerful figure in Republican politics.

He has injected his voice into federal and state campaigns, endorsing several secretary of state candidates who embraced his false fraud claims and worked to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

And while still banned from Twitter, he has issued a flurry of angry tweet-like statements through his political action committee.

He has also re-emerged at rallies, appearing last Saturday in Perry, Ga., with another rally planned for Oct. 9, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.

Speaking in Perry, the former president promised to “make America great again” and called for “an earth-shattering win in November 2022,” before looking ahead to the next presidential election.

We’re not forgetting 2020,” Trump said. “The most corrupt election in the history of our country. Most corrupt election in the history of most countries, to be followed by an even more glorious victory in November of 2024.” ...
