REPUBLICANS SUPPORT DEMOCRACY IN UKRAINE AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT SPREAD TO U.S.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In a powerful statement, Republican congressional leaders said they strongly support democracy in Ukraine, as long as it does not spread to the United States.

“Vladimir Putin should make no mistake,” the G.O.P. statement read. “We Republicans will do everything in our power to preserve democracy in Ukraine, and to keep it over there.”

Drawing a line in the sand, the Republicans argued that democracy “must be allowed to thrive within the territorial borders of Ukraine and must not be permitted to leak out into Florida, Texas, or Georgia.”

Calling Russian aggression “a slippery slope,” the G.O.P. declared, “If Vladimir Putin is allowed to undermine democratic norms in Ukraine, he will be emboldened to attack our proud American traditions of gerrymandering, disenfranchisement, and voter suppression.”

The Washington Post - ‘Genius,’ ‘Savvy’: Trump reacts to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine exactly as you’d expect

Trump was interviewed yesterday on the right-wing “Clay Travis and Buck Sexton” radio show.

This is how Trump replied when the show’s hosts asked him about President Biden’s response to Putin’s sending military forces into Ukraine:

“I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius,’ ” Trump continued. “Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine - of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful. So, Putin is now saying, ‘It’s independent,’ a large section of Ukraine. I said, ‘How smart is that?’ And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s strongest peace force … We could use that on our southern border.”

He continued to praise Putin a bit later.

“Here’s a guy that says, you know, ‘I’m gonna declare a big portion of Ukraine independent’ - he used the word ‘independent’ - ‘and we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna help keep peace,’ ” Trump said. “You gotta say that’s pretty savvy. And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response.” ...

BREAKING THE CODE

  •     “A supreme sexist.” - Barbara Res, former executive vice-president of Trump Organization, who also said “he thinks he’s God.”

  •     “Like an 11-year-old child” -  Steve Bannon. The now estranged advisor also allegedly complained that he was “sick of being a wet nurse to a 71-year-old man.”

  •     Working with Trump is “like trying to figure out what a child wants” -  White House deputy chief of staff Katie Walsh

  •     “The White House has become an adult day care center” -  Republican senator Bob Corker of Tennessee

  •     “Morally unfit to be president,” “unethical” and “untethered to truth” -  former FBI director James Comey, who also compared the US president to a mafia boss.

  •     “Less a person than a collection of terrible traits” -  Trump’s former chief economic adviser Gary Cohn.

  •     Someone who “sucks up and shits down” -  former Fox News chief and confidant Roger Ailes.

"The Truth" social media site looks like it'll as successful as Trump's casinos, Trump airline, Trump steaks, Trump college, Trump charity, ...

Washington Post: Trump’s Truth Social’s disastrous launch raises doubts about its long-term viability

Former president Donald Trump, a longtime critic of how Democrats debuted Healthcare.gov, is facing a bungled website launch of his own.

His long-promised social network, Truth Social, has been almost entirely inaccessible in the first days of its grand debut because of technical glitches, a 13-hour outage and a 300,000-person waitlist.

...Early glimpses at Truth Social suggest its offerings are almost identical to what Twitter and other sites have offered for years...

“The basic thing they needed to actually get right, to get someone in the door, they couldn’t get right,” said Bill Fitzgerald, a privacy researcher. The “ineptitude of the rollout,” he added, could be a warning of future issues ahead: “There is no better sign of a rushed implementation than the fact that you can’t onboard anybody. So I’m hard-pressed to understand why anyone would trust that these people would keep their information safe.”

...The site’s problems extend beyond its waitlist: Its logo — a broken capital 'T' with a period — is identical to the logo of Trailar, a British seller of truck solar panels. A company executive told The Washington Post that it is “seeking legal advice to understand next steps and options available to protect our brand.”

Although Trump has criticized social networks’ “wildly aggressive censorship,” his site’s “terms of service” mark some extensive restrictions for acceptable speech. ...

Trump’s company, the Trump Media & Technology Group, also prohibits anyone from attempting to “disparage, tarnish, or otherwise harm, in our opinion, us and/or the Site.” Truth Social has already banned an account named for a Twitter parody that targeted former congressman Devin Nunes (Republican California), who resigned from Congress to become the Trump company’s CEO.

The site’s terms of service also show it is designed to benefit from Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which Trump has said should be “completely terminated” because it protects tech companies from being sued for what their users post.

Pranksters have already defaced Trump’s new social network

Truth Social’s problems were evident from the start, even though the site’s developers have had months to retool already-used software for the site’s launch.
...
The site was unavailable for most of its first day ... During that time, even the company’s terms of service were offline.

Trump has two brain sides: "left" and "right"

In the left side, there's nothing right.

In the right side, there's nothing left.

Theng kew! (dimples)

Actually, if the Big Man In The Sky (bows to Ricky Gervais portrait) would permanently assign Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Ron de Santis, Jair Bolsonaro and Alexander Lukashenko to another dimension, I might have to reconsider my '-IST' status. 😎

Reuters: Judge signals Trump may be unable to countersue rape victim Jean Carroll in defamation case

A U.S. judge signaled on Tuesday he may not let Donald Trump countersue E. Jean Carroll, a writer who accused the former president of raping her in the mid-1990s and is suing him for defamation.

...Carroll, a former Elle magazine columnist, accused Trump in a June 2019 book excerpt of having raped her in a dressing room at the Bergdorf Goodman department store in Midtown Manhattan

...She sued five months later, claiming that Trump defamed her when he told a reporter he did not know Carroll, said "she's not my type," and accused her of concocting the rape claim to sell her book.

Both sides are awaiting a decision from the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan on whether Carroll's lawsuit should be dismissed because Trump was immune from being sued.
...
