My query is if not those two, who? I can imagine Ron De Santis on the Republican side might have a half-decent shot, but who in the Democrats? Bernie's already quite close in age to Joe as it is (in fact, he's a year older). Would Kamala stand a chance?

Donnie's nut job son would be a likely Republican candidate if Donny himself doesn't run.

JC on a crutch. Can you imagine the governmental carnage that'd follow Junior's appointment to the top job?

But here's a question: Who be be the best GOP Pres? Regardless of the unlikelihood, that is. Cheney? Romney?

I think Liz Cheney would, or even Romney. Hell, after the carnage of Trump's 4 years, those two "establishment" Republicans are actually looking pretty good to me.

This is interesting, some Democrats are trying to get the most "ultra-MAGA" nominees in place they possibly can, in order to turn Republican voters off and move them to their side. Is this what we would call "tactical voting"?

Looks like Trump's managed to p--s off more than a few people in his own party with his endorsements.

Is the TV doctor going to win his Senate primary, I wonder.

Also it's funny how now (or at the moment, anyway) Republicans aren't jumping up and down screaming "election fraud!" like they were 2 years ago... https://edition.cnn.com/2022/05/18/politics/pennsylvania-election-results-senate-governor/index.html

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/trump-announces-new-book-about-the-2020-election/

This is getting majorly trolled on Twitter, but no doubt would be just more of his election fraud propaganda (if true). I also thought he didn't read books, never mind writing one.

The book's title "The Crime of the Century" does describe Trump's presidency accurately.

Of course we all know that Trump's book "The Art of the Deal" was ghost-written by Tony Schwartz.

So if this book has more than one page, I'd expect the same.

The Guardian - Putin ‘had to keep explaining things to Trump’, ex-White House aide says

today

Vladimir Putin “had to keep explaining things” to Donald Trump when Trump was US president, the former White House aide Fiona Hill said.

Putin doesn’t like to do that,” Hill told the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

You could see that he got frustrated many times with President Trump. Even though he loves to be able to spin his own version of events, he wants to have predictability in the person that he’s engaging with.”  ...

Hill said Putin “thought that somebody like Biden, who’s a trans-Atlanticist, who knows all about NATO, who actually knows where Ukraine is, and actually knows something about the history, and is very steeped in international affairs, would be the right person to engage with as opposed to somebody that you have to explain everything to all the time, honestly”. ...

In other words, Putin thought that Trump was a гребаный придурок.

( try Google Translate 😉)

The Washington Post - Ginni Thomas, wife of Supreme Court justice, pressed Ariz. lawmakers to help reverse Trump’s loss, emails show

breaking

Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the conservative activist and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, pressed Arizona lawmakers after the 2020 election to set aside Joe Biden’s popular-vote victory and choose “a clean slate of Electors,” according to emails obtained by The Washington Post.

The emails, sent by Ginni Thomas to a pair of lawmakers on Nov. 9, 2020, argued that legislators needed to intervene because the vote had been marred by fraud.

Though she did not mention either candidate by name, the context was clear.

Just days after media organizations called the race for Biden in Arizona and nationwide, Thomas urged the lawmakers to “stand strong in the face of political and media pressure.”

She told the lawmakers that the responsibility to choose electors was “yours and yours alone” and said they had “power to fight back against fraud.” ...

This stinks.   🙁

Finally. I thought this would never happen.

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/05/22/republicans-ignored-trumps-election-lies-00034242

Ever since the 2020 election, the Republican Party has been transfixed by Trump’s baseless claim that the 2020 election was “rigged,” a falsehood large majorities of Republicans still believe. It’s an obsession that has animated primary campaigns across the country. And it will almost certainly resurface in the general election, when Republicans are running against Democrats, not one another.

Psychologists call this phenomenon "Selective Attention and the Politics of Hypocrisy"

.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

From the article:

“They’re both intelligent guys,” the person said. “They’re both sane guys, and neither of them wants to embarrass himself.”

What's he's saying indirectly is that they're the opposite of Trump in every point he brings up.

NATION’S DOCTORS PRAYING FOR DR. OZ TO WIN AND QUIT MEDICINE

PENNSYLVANIA (The Borowitz Report)—With the G.O.P. Senate primary in Pennsylvania too close to call, thousands of American doctors are praying that Dr. Mehmet Oz ekes out a win and quits medicine.

Dr. Harland Dorrinson, a neurosurgeon based in Wichita, Kansas, has been funneling thousands of dollars to the Oz campaign, along with donations from other doctors hell-bent on seeing the TV host leave their profession.

“Like doctors all across the nation, I salivate at the thought of Dr. Oz talking about taxes, infrastructure, and foreign policy instead of the healing powers of magic coffee beans,” Dorrinson said.

The physician said that his colleagues’ hearts sank when it became apparent that an easy win for Oz was not in the cards, but they “haven’t given up hope” that his departure from medicine could be nigh.

“If Dr. Oz wins, millions of lives could be saved,” Dorrinson said.

Not even 1,000 votes in it now. Am I right in saying a margin this close triggers an automatic recount?
