https://www.axios.com/2022/08/21/liz-cheney-republican-election-trump

LOL at Ted Cruz's response - snarky much? "Sen. Cruz doesn't need or want soon-to-be-former Rep. Liz Cheney's endorsement, and he wishes her the best of luck in the 2024 Democrat presidential primary," a spokesperson [for] Cruz told Axios.

Not about Trump directly, but certainly about a prominent candidate he is backing - and (unintentionally) hilarious: https://uproxx.com/viral/dr-oz-poop-tweets-fetterman/

How fitting a story about sweepstakes involving scammers has Donald Trump in it. And the last paragraph shows the grift goes on:

By 2011, Trump had driven his Atlantic City casinos into the ground, but he didn’t give up running sweepstakes. On the campaign trail, he’s awarded more than a hundred prizes in fund-raising contests. Supporters typically donate five or ten bucks for the chance to win a trip, all expenses paid, to meet him. Recently, his political-action committee sent an e-mail with a new offer: “Contribute ANY AMOUNT RIGHT NOW to be automatically entered to have dinner with President Trump in New Orleans.” He probably raised a lot of money; according to the Washington Post, similar contests have brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars. But the trip to New Orleans came and went, and no winner was announced. A representative for Trump explained that there had been an “administrative error.”

The Guardian -
Ousted Republican reflects on Trump, democracy and America

21 August 2022

Rusty Bowers is headed for the exit.

After 18 years as an Arizona lawmaker, the past four as speaker of the state’s house of representatives, he has been unceremoniously shown the door by his own Republican party.

Last month he lost his bid to stay in the Arizona legislature in a primary contest in which his opponent was endorsed by Donald Trump.

The rival, David Farnsworth, made an unusual pitch to voters: the 2020 presidential election had not only been stolen from Trump, he said, it was satanically snatched by the “devil himself”.

Bowers was ousted as punishment.

The Trump acolytes who over the past two years have gained control of the state’s Republican party wanted revenge for the powerful testimony he gave in June to the January 6 hearings in which he revealed the pressure he was put under to overturn Arizona’s election result.

This is a very Arizonan story. But it is also an American story that carries an ominous warning for the entire nation. ...

You can't seem to get him canned even if all his friends testify against him ... because your legal system is sick. Every parking offender would have been convicted long ago.

The NY Times - Trump Had More Than 300 Classified Documents at Mar-a-Lago

22 August 2022

The initial batch of documents retrieved by the National Archives from former President Donald J. Trump in January included more than 150 marked as classified, a number that ignited intense concern at the Justice Department and helped trigger the criminal investigation that led F.B.I. agents to swoop into Mar-a-Lago this month seeking to recover more ...

In total, the government has recovered more than 300 documents with classified markings from Mr. Trump since he left office: that first batch of documents returned in January, another set provided by Mr. Trump’s aides to the Justice Department in June and the material seized by the F.B.I. in the search this month. ...

At the conclusion of the search this month, officials left with 26 boxes, including 11 sets of material marked as classified, comprising scores of additional documents. One set had the highest level of classification, top secret/sensitive compartmented information.

The Justice Department investigation is continuing, suggesting that officials are not certain whether they have recovered all the presidential records that Mr. Trump took with him from the White House.

I don't think Alex Jones knows Trump very well. The whole world knows there's no way in hell he would sit through a 30 minute video.

That's Fox print/web news, a totally different entity than Fox cable/video "news".

There are actually three different things all called Fox, there's Fox Business, roughly the Wall Street Journal, there's Fox print/web, a right-leaning but middle-of-the-road by US standards news source, and then there's Fox cable/video, a political satire entertainment network.
