Another victory for Trump

Washington Post: Judge delays Georgia's Governor Kemp's testimony in Georgia election probe

A judge ruled Monday that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp must testify before a special grand jury that’s investigating possible illegal attempts by then-President Donald Trump and others to influence the 2020 election in the state — but not until after the November midterm election.

...“The Governor is in the midst of a re-election campaign and this criminal grand jury investigation should not be used by the District Attorney, the Governor’s opponent, or the Governor himself to influence the outcome of that election,” Judge McBurney wrote. “The sound and prudent course is to let the election proceed without further litigation or other activity concerning the Governor’s involvement in the special grand jury’s work.”

Even funnier would be if (somehow) this "new election" he wants was held and he lost again. I don't think I'd be able to contain my glee by that point.

kingdragonfly: Interesting that Fox reported Truth Social financial troubles first.

I've already mentioned this previously, there are three different things called Fox. This one was Fox Business, which is the equivalent of the Wall Street Journal (both owned by/tied to News Corp), so it's not surprising that they'd cover this.

Are you somehow implying he lost the first time?

Donald Trump wants a Special Master to abate the pace of the investigation. If the judge agrees, his private business will be handled by the master abater. It is unclear if this will facilitate his release in the event there is no discharge but it may well give him a degree of satisfaction.

Remember it was mentioned that some of the classified papers confiscated were related to the French President.

Here's a future conservation between Trump and Macron

Trump: "I have the best, biggest ever, dirt on you. You'd be pretty embarrassed if I released it, yeah?"

Macron: "you have pictures of me in furry baggy jeans. It was only the once!"

Trump: "what? No I have pictures of you having sex with multiple women at once."

Macron: "Sacre bleu, you nearly gave me une crise cardiaque, a heart attack. About the sex pictures are they with me and Finland Prime Minister Sanna Marin? My public archive pictures turned out badly."

Rolling Stone: Trump Bragged He Had ‘Intelligence’ on Macron’s Sex Life

On the FBI's list of documents seized from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, item 1a is listed solely as “info re: President of France.” For Trump, that has been a subject of intense — and tawdry — interest for years.

Specifically, Trump has bragged to some of his closest associates — both during and after his time in the White House — that he knew illicit details about the love life of French President Emmanuel Macron, two people with knowledge of the matter tell Rolling Stone. And the former president even claimed that he learned about some of this dirt through “intelligence” he had seen or been briefed on, these sources say.

The NY Times - Documents at Mar-a-Lago Were Moved and Hidden as U.S. Sought Them, Filing Suggests

31 August

WASHINGTON - The Justice Department sought a search warrant for former President Donald J. Trump’s residence in Florida after obtaining evidence that highly classified documents were likely moved around and concealed and that Mr. Trump’s representatives had falsely claimed all sensitive material had been returned, according to a court filing by the department on Tuesday. ...

Among the new disclosures in the 36-page filing were that the search yielded three classified documents in desks located inside Mr. Trump’s office, with more than 100 documents in 13 boxes or containers with classification markings in the residence, including some at the most restrictive levels.

That was twice the number of classified documents the former president’s lawyers turned over voluntarily while swearing an oath that they had returned all the material demanded by the government. ...

That picture with the top secret documents next to a box of Time magazines.
No more security than he has for a bunch of old magazine.

I do remember a story from way back of a New Zealand Magazine being stiffed by Trump on boxes of their magazine that had his picture on the front.

Apparently he collects large numbers of glossies he makes cover of to spread around his properties or just to browse his own glory.
Maybe he needs lots of copies as his greasy fingers stroking the covers wears them out.

Duly sent after a request from one of his minions, with payment promised.
No payment ever eventuated.

Can't remember which NZ Glossy it was.

Some people went to prison for less than the shit this idiot does. FBI searched Trump Mar-a-Lago home over ‘likely’ efforts to hide classified files, justice department says | Donald Trump | The Guardian

The FBI searched Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida after it obtained evidence that there was likely an effort to conceal classified documents at the property despite representations made by his lawyers, the justice department said in a court filing.

The recounting is the most detailed picture of potential obstruction of justice outlined to date by the government, and was contained in a filing from the justice department that opposed Trump’s request to get an independent review of materials seized from his Florida home.

The justice department said in the submission that, after a Trump lawyer in May accepted service of a subpoena for materials removed from the White House, the lawyer and Trump’s records custodian in June gave the government a single Redweld legal envelope, double-taped, that contained the documents.

As Trump’s lawyer and custodian turned over the folder to Jay Bratt, the justice department’s chief counterintelligence official, the custodian produced and signed a letter certifying a “diligent search” had been conducted and all documents responsive to the subpoena were being returned.

The lawyer for the former president also stated to Bratt that all the records in the envelope had come from one storage room at Mar-a-Lago, that no other records elsewhere at the resort, and that all boxes of materials brought from the White House had been searched, the justice department said.

But the FBI subsequently uncovered evidence through multiple sources that classified documents remained at Mar-a-Lago in defiance of the subpoena, and that other government records were “likely” concealed and removed from the storage room, according to the filing.

As with most other things he's completely unaware of, he probably thinks that having one or more mistresses and/or an interesting sex life is a bad thing if you're a French politician. Mitterrand, one of their most popular presidents, had two separate families, his wife and kids and his mistress and kids, both of whom lived in the Elysee palace with him. They were also immensely proud of one of their PMs (from memory) who had a 19-year-old mistress.
