He's insulted Ted Cruz, and his wife, and Mitch McConnell, and just about every other friend.

Trump's mottos
  • "What's in it for me?"
  • or "Today's friends are just future enemies"
  • "That was yesterday. What have you done for me today?"

Paul1977:

The best he's got so far is "Ron DeSanctimonious". That's pretty weak sauce.

You're right, but that doesn't seem to matter to his followers. He could really just call him something super-lame like, I dunno, "Ron Jerkass" or something and they would still laugh their grifted asses off.

Also far more syllables than 90% of his support base will be able to process.

There are certainly plenty of ardent Trump supporters, but I think a good chunk of the Republican base don't particularly like Trump, they just hate the Democrats far more. I wouldn't write the majority of Republicans off as idiots.

This BBC article paints a more scary picture for the Yanks.  A group with links to QAnon is targeting Secretary of State positions.  If they win any states they will have control of elections in that state.  Jim Marchant (who I believe is chief among them) has said that he lost to a rigged ballot last time he stood, so it would not be a stretch to think they would close ballot boxes early or discount postal votes if it favoured their candidate.

From TFA:

He plans to be less belligerent, more forward-looking, with an increased focus on policy rather than rhetoric. It will be a more restrained Trump in 2024.

Rages that alienated many suburban women voters last time, and ultimately lost him the election, will be contained. For the same reason, he will not rejoin Twitter.

Instead, he will seek to explain the America First agenda in more depth, and why it would make independent voters better off than they are now.

In other news, leopards have announced they will be changing their spots for tiger stripes, and a herd of pigs have applied for pilots licenses.

He doesn't have it in him to be controlled. It only needs someone to push the right buttons and he'll explode.

He can't even spell policy let alone focus on it.

Ron is probably his next closest competition.

As per https://edition.cnn.com/2022/11/09/politics/winners-losers-2022-midterm-elections/index.html (under the "Winners" section):

* Ron DeSantis: In an overall disappointing night for Republicans, the Florida governor was a very bright spot. He absolutely crushed former Gov. Charlie Crist to win a second term. The victory – and the margin by which he won – could well serve as a springboard for DeSantis’ national hopes as it allows him to make the argument that he can do nationally what he just did in Florida. DeSantis reached for broad conclusions in the wake of his victory, calling it a “win for the ages” (I mean…) and casting Florida as the state “where woke goes to die.” (Alrighty.) DeSantis is now clearly a politician with momentum coming out of the election and now the Republican Party waits to see what he’ll do next.

Trump has had his time. He doesn't realise it yet because he simply isn't very perceptive, but people outside his hard core are tired of him. Whatever the democrats do, it is the republicans who will bring him down.
